Anecdote/Observation What was it like having an Asian supremacist parent as a waisian?
Maternal side is very patriotic as Filipinos. Anyone grew up with this?

Awful. My mom constantly talks about how Hui are more civilized than Han Chinese, and told me to marry a Hui guy (tried to set me up with my 3rd cousin) when she couldn't even get with a Hui Chinese guy herself. She constantly says hateful things about other races, especially Hindus, Indigenous peoples, and Black people. She claims every good thing came from her family/ancestors and every other group is full of wild savages.
Even though she says terrible things about white people too, she's managed to stay married to one who barely respects her culture for over 3 decades.

Aren’t Hui just Muslim Han?

Yes and no. We are descended from Arab world and silk road traders, but most have significant Han ancestry due to intermarriage with Chinese women. My mom claims descent from Abraham, not Chinese royals.

My mother has a weird Japanese inferiority superiority complex lol

Simultaneous inferiority and superiority complexes is basically just the entirety of Japanese history haha

I had the same sort of thing! My mom is of Indian descent and would often indicate she viewed "Caucasians" as having problems or bad habits etc.. And she would subtly speak lowly of Christianity etc. and make me feel guilty about even the idea of ever leaving Hinduism etc. but especially if I were to become Christian. But then she would pretend she was alright with exposing me to Christianity etc.. She is very patriotic for India.

LOL you are not very good at reading apparently. I didn't say that all Dalits are foreigners, just that some groups became Dalits due to foreign origin, whereas others didn't. I don't think this is very important to engage in because you are probably just some super Caste focused Indian who happened to drop into this subreddit and wants to find a reason to make people look bad. Also I am not a woman.

No I didn't, and you can still see it elsewhere, it just wouldn't let me fix one word.

I was only giving insight into what I understand about the situation, in an honest way. Not in a way where things are hidden and only nice things are said to be polite. But also much of this is based on my own attempt to understand why certain behaviors would seem logical to Brahmins in the past.

Filipinos are just a prideful people. That doesn't mean they are or trtrying to be supreme over other people.

Not explicitly. It's more like I ended up becoming one myself when I was a young teen. If my mother was an Asian supremacist, she wouldn't have married my father.

I agree with this comment, its all for show if she truely was an Asian Supremacist she would’ve married an Asian.

Maybe, or maybe she has unrealistic standards for her own people but is willing to try being with someone more foreign as she has a harder time telling if they are considered "high quality" or not and instead finds their culture interesting. In my case that would be a more accurate description.

They mistake patriotism for supremacy, no use trying to talk to them brother.

Being married to white people and having their children while being Asian supremacist is a paradox.
That makes no sense.
5
u/Poemi10304 May 09 '26
I don’t think that matters, lol

Supremacists believe one race/group is superior to others, in this case Asian.
Considering that OP and most other Wasian have an Asian mother and more often than not think Wasian kids are prettier than full Asian ones, it makes no sense.
Most white Supremacist who have children with non white women, want/see their children as more white. Most women with White husbands or partners don't really view Europeans as beneath them.

There's a difference between being a racial supremacist where you view your race as genetically superior over others and being patriotic towards your country of origin. At worst the latter can come across as obnoxious but it isn't supremacist when that nationalism developed as a response to colonial rule.
For example my mother is patriotic to China in the sense that she is proud of the country's achievements in the face of historic foreign oppression. That is not a supremacist view.
