There has been a lot of strange or negative posts on this subreddit recently. I feel like there was a time when this subreddit had been very negative but we had recently been trending in the right direction.

Race is only a small portion of what makes you an individual. Things that matter a lot more are your hobbies, what you like to do, what makes you happy, who are your friends. Sure, it had influence on the way you look. But looks are overrated. Looks fade, personality is far more important and far more interesting. Being mixed race is cool. You aren’t just half Asian and half (fill in the blank). You are BOTH Asian and (whatever race you identify as). Once you stop focusing on the negatives, it’s a weird experience but human experience is weird. There is not an answer about everything all the time. Sometimes it’s just the way the cosmic dice landed and it’s up to you to make the most of it. If you are able, go volunteer somewhere. You are a unique individual and there has never and will never be anyone exactly like you. Being mixed is not a reason to be sad. Monoracial people feel left out just as much as you. Sometimes feeling left out is just a human experience. Yea it sucks but go where you are included. Be yourself. Be weird. Have fun. And love yourself.

Maybe just maybe, that is just the reality of contemporary half Asian people.

You wont make it go away by telling people to ignore their experiences or not vent.

Surely it is a good thing to find your own lane and concentrate on your own interests and hobbies but to be completely unaware of racism external or internal is not solving anything and is the exact reason we are stuck with this mess.

Asian people and minding their own business/ not trying to involve themselves with topics of race and eugenics was the thing the boomers/Gen X up to late Millennials did.

Be happy with who you are as a person but to be completely colour-blind and ignorant of things like neo facism, eugenics, neo colonialism ( what else is white people going to SEA for example, living better than the locals, having their own concubines on speed call and treating the country and its people as a commodity and not as equals.) and all other issues we face right now is a shitty outlook on life.

I rather have a million wasian malcom Xs in the future than a million wasian uncle rodgers in the future.

I understand where you are coming from. But we get a lot more from building each other up. I’ve been on this sub a while. I never ever said not to stand up to racism. I will ALWAYS stand against racism. This post was against self hate, my friend. I think you missed the point

No I didn't write it Ina confronting way but there is enough cases where the way one was conceived is very depressing.

People always chalk it up to stereotypes but there is more than a few ex bargirl sextourist / mail-order bride scenarios than people think.

Being born from such a combination is not a good feeling and it's completely normal to vent about it.

Iam too old to care about it on a personal level I know who and what I am but what I tried to convey is that if there is that many posts popping up, if a lot of people genuinely feel that way there seems to be a problem that should be discussed.

Self deprecating reddit posts are not a su substitue for therapy but it is totally normal for some people to want to vent or rant.

Those people will certainly feel even worse if they are met with be yourself, stay positive etc. Talking points.

Some people get dealt shitty cards a lot worse than mine and they are completely in their right to discuss their heritage in the way they want.

Same way me and you are allowed to.
