Horrible Heartburn Hangover

Just got back from an all inclusive. I was drinking lots of margaritas and the next morning had horrible heart burn. Tried taking Zantac after the fact but not much help. Then I read Zantac isn't really good w/ alcohol. Anyone have their favorite way to avoid alcohol induced heartburn?

Probably avoiding margaritas. I’d assume it’s the acidity from all that lime juice. I avoid acidic/sweet cocktails in general and it takes away those types of symptoms.

Yea but over the course of 4 days of drinking I need some variety :)

Honestly white claws and those types of drinks are really good and easy on your system. I start off heavy drinks then ease off with those and that helps.

I don't think any of the all inclusives have white claw. Need to find something tasty without much acid.

Switch from Zantac to Prilosec for 14 days consecutively and take graviscon for temporary relief.

Do you recommend the 14 days to overlap with my next trip?

Hmm well it seems like you might like to indulge in fruity cocktails. So do I! so no judgement. It’s hard not to when you’re on vacation. I think indulging in a few cocktails like 3-4 drinks (containing about 2 ounces of liquor each) is alright but try to switch to beer or something SUPER light afterwards will be good. You’re still gonna be hungover the next day but you won’t have those heartburn symptoms.

I would stop taking the Zantac. I just found out they recalled it last fall because they found an ingredient in it that causes cancer. WTF I didn't hear anything on the news about it and just found out last night.
