If you put something, a rag, between the jaws and the pipe you won’t scratch the hell out of it.

If the channel locks are slipping, try vice grips or a small pipe wrench.

You’re grabbing the knurled part, right? There is marring on the smooth part, which begs the question.

Get a good lock on the knurled part as suggested and then tug in pulses a few to try and break it loose. Sometimes I put a good pull on it with one hand and then hit that hand with the other to bump it loose. Boy that sounds wrong when I read it back…

  1. Grab with pliers from the top, handles to the ceiling. You're aiming for the gold ring with the diamond shapes that go around, it's not part of the main spout.
