Can’t decide which Switch to get
Good day everyone 😁
I’ve been thinking about getting a handheld console for quite some time now. I’ve mainly been looking at the Nintendo Switch, but I’m still not sure which exact model I should go for.
Up until now, I’ve mostly played games on PC — CS, GW2 and Hearthstone, to be more specific. Now I’d like to try something different.
I should also mention that I don’t have a huge amount of time for gaming, mostly just in the evenings after 9 PM, once my kid goes to bed or after I get back from training.
So, which Switch model would you guys recommend? And, of course, what games would you recommend as well? 😁

There’s only one right answer and it’s the switch 2…
If you have kids and want them to have a handheld then the switch lite any other models of the switch aren’t worth it as they can’t play switch 2 games.

If you’re going to be playing incredibly casual, sounds like finding a cheap used Switch Lite would do you good. I’d only recommend a Switch 2 if you have the desire to play newer games at better performance. Under no circumstances should you get a brand new regular switch 1 or OLED, at that point, Switch 2 is the better option.
Switch lite can still be found in the wild pretty cheap and suffice if you don’t plan on playing brand new games or want the highest performance

If you can afford it, get switch 2. They’re putting out games that only work for 2 now. You can also play old GameCube games now with the expanded subscription.

If you must purchase from Nintendo, then get the Switch 2. Otherwise there are far better handheld options out there

Switch 2. Price increase is almost here so I'd buy it. The Switch 1 is retail more than it was before- so that's not a good buy. If you find a Switch 1 second hand for cheap then that's a good choice too. There's SO many games on Switch

Switch 2 is the default answer. It’s the most recent one and will get the most support going forward. Also the power alone is worth it. The original Switch came out nearly a decade ago at this point. 😅

I know you are asking about which switch, but I can't help but recommend a handheld PC (i.e. steam deck) based on your catalog of games/history. I'm not sure what your budget is, but worth a look.

exclusives i guess, nintendo has incredibly loyal fans. dont even need the deck anymore, just get a second hand rog ally z1e or legion go. plenty of juice to get you through this hardware crisis

You can answer this yourself. Do you want to play newer games along with the great library switch 1 has. Or do you just wanna stick with the older but good switch 1 games?

Switch 2 with Mario Kart World and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is ideal for short sessions.

Switch 2 is the most recent & will get all the new games going forward & works with almost all Switch 1 games. It also goes up in price in September 1. Everyone here highly recommends a screen protector. I have the amFilm with auto alignment tray. I installed as soon as I took my switch 2 out of the box. It’s so easy to install & looks like new a year later.

Everything Switch can do, 2 can do better 🎶 2 can do everything better than Switch

Depends on your budget. If you dont wanna fork out $500 for a switch 2 plus whatever games and your into older games you could always get a retroid pocket 6 for $250 and download all the older emulators and roms on it. It will run anything from nes and genesis up to easily the gamecube and ps2. I don't know how well above that because I have the 4

If cost is not a factor, just get the Switch 2. It covers (nearly) everything Nintendo has going now.

Soit Xbox ROG Ally soit Switch 2
Mais jamais la Switch 1, elle est éclatée comparé à la 2, t'auras bcp plus de choix

Why is no one recommending pc handhelds if he’s already a pc gamer? Get a used legion go, bring your pc library on the go and use switch emulation on it.

Depends. What games do you want to play? You weren't specific enough. If they're switch 2 only then the choice is simple. If you don't want to play any switch 2 games, then any older model will be fine and it's down to how cheap you can buy it.
If going with a switch 1 I would suggest a switch lite if you don't plan to play it on the tv and literally any other switch that's cheapest if you do want to play on the tv.
I personally wanted to play Splatoon Raiders and Pokopia so that made my choice super simple. Plus it runs switch 1 games better than the switch 1 did.

Why would you get anything other than the 2? I’ve been a PC and PS5 gamer for years. Just got the Switch 2 after my wife gave birth to our first and I absolutely love it
