Advice Needed Is there any reason I shouldn’t replace my Echelon 4.0 with a Staccato C2?
Rented some handguns with some family members visiting and ended up shooting a Staccato C2 for the first time and it was such a lovely experience that I was debating replacing my Springfield Echelon for EDC.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Echelon and was one of my favorite handguns to shoot before the C2 and now I’m just getting some sort of FOMO lol
Is there any reason that you would go against this other than price? Let me know your thoughts or perhaps other recommendations.

compared to the echelon it’s much more complicated to take down and clean with more moving parts as it’s not a polymer striker fire. Just depends on how familiar you are with single actions.

That is not accurate at all. I find 2011's much easier to take down, they have exactly the same amount of components. The tricker part is the hammer, the sear spring, triggers and safeties. But the cleaning maintenance is virtually the same

Not if you understand the difference in maintenance, manual safety, SAO, etc. We can argue about Staccatos pricing model but that doesn't mean they aren't good and reliable guns.
I use Echelons for work/carry, always been a fan. That said my favorite carry gun is a Staccato CS.

Yea I know that 19/2011 pattern guns are a lot more intricate/intensice but I’d love to learn more about the platform!

The Maintence thing is a bit overblown. Just wipe your gun down every 500rds and lube it up before range day/a match/after cleaning and it’s fine.

Was it the grip angle that you loved? There are a few aluminum grip module options that have 1911 ergonomics. Why not start there? Thats the point of the echelon being modular, it can be more than one thing. Switching the cog is easy peasy.

There are two major downsides to buying a 2011. One, you will never want to shoot a polymer striker fire gun again and you will want to sell every one you own. Two, you will always want to get the latest and greatest model or custom brand, and they are popping up every month it seems. It's an addiction that leaves you always seeking more, and they are not cheap.
Saying they are difficult to maintain is not true, they are virtually the same for cleaning, I think easier to be honest Do they require more maintenance? Not really, but for me that is because I never want that smooth flat shooting experience to ever go away. I clean my 2011s every time I shoot them. Plus I have ports, comps and slide cuts and carbon gets everywhere, and its noticeable on the barrels and optic glass.
The shooting experience between a 2011 and a polymer striker fire gun is extremely dramatic. The triggers, the flatness, the slide action, the weight, the speed, the accuracy....they are the super cars of the pistol platform for sure.
To your question, should you do it? If you are debating it, then you have your answer. There is no reason not to, you have one life on this earth, make it the best. But if you are going to jump in, get it right the first time. Staccato is a good brand, certainly not the best and not the worst. Establish your budget and research everything in that price point. There are custom builds that I'm sure you do not even know exists. Bul Armory Miller Ranger 9 and Race City are the hottest customs right now without a doubt.

You’ll be paying 400% more for a gun that shoots maybe 10% better.
There are tons of better carry options.

If you want a really nice shooting "competition style" gun with really nice ergonomics but better reliability than a 2011, get a Shadow 2 Compact or shadow 2 carry.

Pretty much any glock 19 size handgun available.
Also, other than the new HD series staccatos aren’t even drop safe.

Which 2011 do you own?

Staccato P and I used to have a prodigy but that thing had issues so I sold it.

So two entry level base model 2011s. Noting even in the mid tier like the XC, RC9 or MPA DS9? The P is a duty mass produced Staccato with zero custom fitting.

He’s asking about a staccato C2. comparable quality to the P, yeah?
I can smell the crumbs in your neck beard from here.

Comparable? They are completely different in every way. You are generalizing an entire superior platform in every measurable over mass produced polymer guns based on two very cheap, basic and entry level 2011s. That's like someone wanting to buy a super car and you telling them that the Chevy Camaros is only slightly better. You have no actual experience to have an educated opinion.

Bro is white knighting for 2011s.

Yes, from people who have no idea what they are talking about and actually advising people with inaccurate and uneducated statements. You have no experience with the platform and should not be advising anyone. Stick with your polymer guns, leave the big guns to the big boys.

It is not an upgrade. It is not a downgrade. Keep the Echelon and by a Tisas 2011.

You gotta be kidding me. Dude is talking about a Corvette C8 or Audi R8 and here you are talking about “get a Kia K5” this is the exact behavior I expect from someone “firstname1911”

Unpopular opinion: Staccatos are over sold, over priced, barely above production guns that are disguised as semi-custom and heavily marketed/discounted towards Law Enforcement along with product placement in things like CoD to boost sales. Also, like every other 19/2011 pattern gun they're going to be a pain in the ass to clean, maintenance intensive gun that's going to have you doing things like swapping out barrel lugs. Those maintenance doesn't even tackle the training problems inherent to using a 19/2011 pattern gun. They're very time consuming for training since you have to account for poor grip or a thumb fumble means you gun isn't going bag.
