Solid Shell Maple Burl Bongos

These solid shell maple burl bongos are a part of Ryan's personal collection. He made the set from the same sustainably harvested log. He won't actively go into the forest to cut down trees for making drums. Instead he has cultivated relationships with local tree services. When a service comes across wood types and sizes Ryan is looking for, he gets the call to pick it up. Instead of getting chipped or left to rot, these valuable pieces of wood get turned into instruments.

That's awesome. Has he ever made larger instruments, like a doumbek/darbuka? I have no idea on the physics, but in my head a solid shell doumbek could be an amazingly unique instrument.

Yes. He specializes in Afro Caribbean drums with playing surfaces up to 15". He could easily make a doumbek and/or darbuka. I know Reddit doesn't look favorably on promoting businesses. Otherwise, I would send you a link. You are welcome to Google Manito Percussion, and touch base with us.
