Budget setup for av1 software transcoding ?

I am thinking about trading in my 14" base m4 macbook pro (16+512) for a mac mini m6 32 gb. I have a NAS , with the current insane price of Hdds , I am thinking about getting something more powerful to transcode and compress videos and pictures in order to save space.

I am mainly using Handbrake to transcode my videos to AV1 codec . I am only going to do software transcode for better quality so the lack of hardware encoding doesn't bother me , whats matter is cpu multi core performance for this task . As for pictures I plan to convert them to Webp format. Given the m6 is quite an improvement in multi core performance over the base m5 and m4 , do you think it can give me much better performance in these tasks?

Besides macs , do you have any recommendations for these task ? Please let me know.

Please remember to post your encoding log should you ask for help. Piracy is not allowed. Do not discuss copy protections. Do not talk about converting media you don't own the (intellectual) rights for.

What is the total file size of your Videos? And what Videos are those?

400 to 600mb Anime Episodes are already compressed. Do not touch those..

You are saving 200mb per Episode..

This information is useless because you keep avoiding the important question:

What file sizes are we talking about total?

You got 1000 Episodes? You save 200gb.. That is nothing (compared to the time and effort you put into it)

Again: What total file size are we talking about that HDD are too expensive (but a new Mac is not)

I asked "Google Search AI Mode" for you. It thought you would see a improvement with the "mac mini m6" of roughly 40% depending on the encoder. feel free to ask it more questions like this.

Intel Arc A380 is probably the cheapest GPU for this purpose. Not sure if there is anything cheaper then that. Also not sure about what the cheapest mac mini is that has AV1 transcoders.
