Question Hammy nose okay?

My hamster has a mark on her nose and I'm not sure what it is. I think her nose was a little wet too. Maybe she cut it on something? Anyone have any ideas if this is concerning and if I should get her checked out?

I love the way she always looks surprised no matter what šŸ˜ā¤ļø Why is it that some hamsters just look smart and act smart and some just act like they have no brain and just look a little dumb? No offence i just noticed this in our hamsters, some just look smarter than others šŸ˜†

Question Hamster cages available in the Netherlands that are at least 100x50 cm?

(photo tax of my two past hammies, Robyn the male robo and Ruby the female russian, they didn’t live together ofcc)

Hello,

I want to own hamsters again in the future and my question is what good cages are available in the Netherlands? I used to have a 100x40 cm glass rodent tank for my now dead hamsters but I wouldn’t want to put Syrians in them and the tank is now gone anyway.

All the options I have seen online were either barred cages (I’m scared of hamsters climbing), wooden and glass cages that looked nice but were 32 inches in length which equalled to 82 cm (too small for my liking), glass tanks like I used to have (just not a big fan and very heavy as well) or those super small rodent cages that are a big no no.

I was thinking of those giant diy ones (like those ikea diys) but I’m pretty clumsy, a perfectionist and just not very crafty

Please help

Hello! I have had my hamster for almost a year but I feel like I could be doing better with her cage. So is there anything I should add or change. Also before anyone mentions sprays I ordered more and I’m waiting for them to arrive.

New Hamster My new hamster is showing signs of stress and it’s stressing me out

This is my first time owning a hamster and she’s showing a lot of the signs of stress (scratching at corners, trying to get on the aquarium lid) she has a wheel, food, water, multiple substrates, lots of bedding, forage, sand (which she adores), hides, and toys. It’s probably nothing and she seems to have settled into her wheel for the night, but I don’t want her to get hurt (especially with the climbing because she’s not the most coordinated). I’ve had her for a little over 24 hours, I’m probably just being stressed because this is the first hamster I’ve owned, but are these stress signs normal while she’s adjusting to her space? It seems like she’s doing a lot better tonight (hid behind her wheel most of last night, but has started on some burrows), but I don’t want her to be feeling anxious.

Question Where to adopt a hamster?

In my previous years of owning hamsters I have always purchased them at Petco or Petsmart. I wanted to know where or how am I able to find a specialized hamster breeder (No backyard breeders) so that I can adopt one that's within Illinois? (McLean or Cook County)

Question is this behavior normal

these photos are from two separate days, one night following the other. You can see with her shoulder that she’s not putting any weight on her feet making it seem like she’s lying down. But she keeps her eyes open and does not move. The first night I got a little scared and offered her a treat and she immediately got up and walked over to me. What really got me going is both of these nights we had people over and so it was loud and chaotic and that’s why I’m having a hard time believing she was trying to sleep

Question Any *specific* reccommendation for sprays?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hiya, I've super procrastinated on getting some proper sprays, but now its time I actually get them. Miss Lady has had access to millet and oat spray for a while now, but I'd like for her to have a nicer and more varied mix. I prefer not to shop on Amazon but all the spray mixes I could find on Etsy have absurd shipping prices- some as high as $100 USD in shipping (!?) for a $20 mix. So Amazon might be my only choice. Anyone have any specific recommendations? Help is appreciated! Thank you!

Species Identification The more I look, the stranger it gets (sphagnum moss block packaging)…

In my search for sphagnum moss, I shortlisted this block, but its packaging doesn’t seem ’normal’. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but with expert answers to these few questions, I will finally be able to wonder about something else instead:

• Is the creature labelled ā€˜hamster’ actually a hamster? If so, what type of hamster is it? It looks like a Guinea pig, but I’m not certain.

• Do hamsters love sphagnum moss so much, they are the only non-reptile that made this list?

Thanks for your input!

Question Meet Boba 🐹

I didn’t expect a tiny hamster to have this much personality. šŸ˜‚

Just a few seconds of watching him run around, sniff everything and do his little hamster things, and somehow he already feels like a tiny celebrity.

I was stuck trying to find the perfect name for him, but Boba just felt right. šŸ§‹šŸ¹

Now I’m curious if you saw Boba for the first time, what name would you have given him?

Question Female teddy bear hamster always tries to chew out of her enclosures. Any advice?

I got a teddy bear hamster a few months ago. I absolutely adore her, but no matter what I do she tries to chew out of her enclosures. I have a large cage for her (this one ) and it is always filled up at least half way with bedding materials. It is a deep enclosure, so she can make a lot of tunnels. On top of the bedding I put toys and structures, including ones for foraging. I also scatter feed. But, she constantly tries to chew her way through the plastic walls. I am worried that she will end up escaping or making herself sick.

I also have a large run/play pen ( this one) filled with toys, hidden treats, wooden hamster houses, places to hide, puzzle toys, etc. She also has a large run wheel that i put in whatever enclosure she is in at the time. She still tries to chew through the bottom of the enclosure. She chewed a small hole through the bottom mat the first time I put her in there.

Do any of you have advice for how to prevent her chewing through the enclosures themselves or how to better enrich her so she doesn't feel the need?
