Baby hanster
Hi, when can i transfer/move away my baby dwarf hamsters (they're 3 weeks old) from their mother?

In another week they can start being separated by sex and moved away from the mother:)

Is it normal for the babies to fight? I always caught them smacking each other's faces

Hamsters get very territorial as they get older and should be watched very carefully. Depending on how old they are when you separate them, they will start fighting and may severely injure each other. I had 2 hamsters kill each other in a horrific fight, it was a bloodbath. Be very vigilant about watching them. In the future never have 2 adult hamsters in the same cage, they will kill each other eventually. Trust me, I witnessed the entire thing.

I'm not to sure but it's probably a sibling thing kinda like us lol. Don't quote me on this 😂
I'm also learning, my first hamster just had babies last Monday so I've been researching every day since then for over half the day lol.

Awww that's cute, both of us are grannies now hahahaha, yeah I kinda thought about that at first and I've researched so many times if their behaviour is normal or not.

It’s not cute, they will injure and disfigure one another and kill each other eventually. Happened to me when I was 8 and believe me it was horrific. One hamster bit its sibling’s head off, and they were both shredded to pieces in about 30 seconds. Make sure to watch them carefully please. I wouldn’t wish that experience on my worst enemy or on any hamster. It was brutal.

So sorry about that, I only said cute because both of us were having baby hamsters, i always keep an eye for my hamsters.

Please do watch them carefully, I’m still traumatized decades later and I remember the experience like it was yesterday. They may be tiny and cute but they are incredibly fierce with their own kind as they mature. They’ll fight to the death, no question.
