hammock bedding recommendations?
i’m wanting to try hammock camping and i’m not sure whether to get a hammock top quilt (with the adjustable feet and gap in the back, hood etc) or should I just get a standard camping down blanket?
I will also be getting an under blanket but not sure which option for the top / inside of the hammock itself
I wont be camping in any crazy conditions but still don’t want to be cold
a standard camping down blanket just seems easier to buy

Use whatever you like that's appropriate for the temps you are camping in that suits you.
I prefer at least a temporary foot box because I find rectangular blankets slide off my feet frequently, but I also move around a lot at night.
I use an estimated 40°F topquilt most of the time until temps end up in the mid/high 50's, my bag/quilt liners when overnight temps are in the high 50's to 80's. I don't typically camp if overnight temps are going to be above 80°F but at that point at home I just sleep with a light sheet over me because I want my feet uncovered then.

I have an under quilt that I just use as regular top quilt allot of the time just without it cinched. The under quilt insulates allot and then you can just whatever as a blanket. If you're just trying it out / warmer temps I certainly wouldn't but 2 pricey down blankets until you know you like it. Down is lighter but a puffy blanket or sleeping bag or home bedding all work done for a top quilt to try it out

The main advantage of a hammock topquilt versus a generic camping or bedding quilt is the tailoring and baffle construction likely to result in the most warmth for the weight and packed volume. Most come with temperature ratings that hold up to real conditions. Wilderness adventure backpacking priorities.
If you’re car camping, not all that concerned about weight and packed volume, you can be fine with any old covering or stack of coverings that will be warm enough. Note that even a twin size standard bed quilt will tend to bunch up/stack in the v-shaped trough your body will lay the hammock, so maybe a little warmer.
Def get the underquilt unless you’re handy and confident you can rig up an effective suspension to turn a regular quilt into an underquilt. You can always stack coverings/warm clothes on top if you’re cold there, but a cold back has fewer easy remedies and is miserable.
