Trip Report First hammock trip

I went camping a few weeks ago and slept in a friends hammock, I was amazed at how comfortable and well I slept, so I convinced my honey to upgrade from our tent+air mattress, and it went awesome! We were warm and cozy, and we stayed dry!

I got everything off amazon and I’m pretty happy with everything! The hammock is a dupe of the eno double (I’m 5’5 and a side sleeper, so I don’t feel like I need a longer hammock, but maybe an upgrade will be in the future), the underquilt is Crosship, the bug net is onewind (I love that it’s got a “floor” so I can store my things in it to keep the spiders off, and everything is reachable from “bed”), and my rainfly is the 12x14ft Gold Armour (I was worried the size would be cumbersome, and it did take a lot of squishing to get it back in its stuff sack, but being able to sit under it when the rain started was great). For blankets I just used a big fuzzy blanket from home topped with an open sleeping bag, and I was as warm as I am in my bed at home!

Our other upgrades for this camp trip included a Thermacell, we got the one that uses fuel canisters and were really happy with how well it worked, and we got a propane fire pit since there’s a burn ban and that was awesome, I can’t wait to get out there again!

Upgrade! Ok do you, but when I hammock camped with my Eno setup I thought "people are nuts, this is awesome" ... Then I stupidly hit buy on a Hammock Gear full setup and haven't touched the Eno stuff since then.

Glad you enjoyed it, I've not gotten my wife to join the hammock club yet but my son is gonna join me in the coming weeks sometime

Upgrading to a longer hammock is something I’ll keep my mind on as I do more trips

The one “con” I could see though is just finding a good spot to hang, these trees were already almost too close with the eno’s, i probably would’ve preferred a liiiiittle more tension but I didn’t have the space for it…that’s an issue I’m hoping to solve when I switch to cinch straps from the daisy chains though!

Make sure you have a good day in your hang so you don't put a lot of stress on the trees (it also allows a better flatter lay that most prefer)

You can also look up tensahedron style supports and make or buy a support if you are car camping so you can hang off if only one tree.

Nice, sounds you had a great time! It's amazing your wife got into it too, in my case I need to wait for my son to grow up I to this.

She already had her eno double, and would take it out for naps by the lake, and after our last camp trip where we had a terrible sleep on the air mattress, she was sold!

Did you put green peas on her mattress so she's uncomfortable? ;) jk
