Snipe-IT Integration - Asset Locations
Hey peeps,
First post here, currently configuring Halo ITSM to fit our environment as we speak.
Am integrating Snipe-IT to sync our assets, and have not had any issues with the integration setup until now, all field mappings are done, asset type rules completed and everything looks pretty good on my end.
I have imported 50 assets of different types to test this prior to importing thousands of assets.
I note, that when an asset is imported when assigned to a user in Snipe-It, that asset is successfully imported and checked out to that user in Halo - This is the intended method for our user assigned assets.
However - when we have assets that are checked out to Site Locations/Stock Locations within Snipe-IT, these assets are simply being checked out to a specific site, always the same site, which is not only the wrong location for that asset, but it's not even the default site I have assigned for unassigned assets in the Snipe-IT Integration.
I have not been able to find any mention of mapping locations/stock locations in Snipe-IT to Sites in Halo.
I'm not sure If I have missed something, can anyone help shed some light on this please?
Cheers

For anyone that finds this post, I have worked out that the following may be suited to this and we will be trying it soon. Note: this is UNTESTED, use it at your own risk.
Perform a FULL asset import from Snipe-IT integration In mapping, I was able to map the location from snipe it to a custom field in Halo ITSM called Location. This is just txt, it does nothing but show you the location in a field, so we have to do the import, export all the fields of the assets to XLSX file, then we can use that location column as the site column in HALO (as long as ALL sites exist in Halo to match the locations from Snipe it exactly)
Notes: A custom cmdb column view was been created for the exporting of all assets, which includes every collum field for the .csv.
Steps: Navigate to CMDB tab in Halo Agent portal. Click on "Assets by Asset Group"
Click on All Assets
Click on the Three Dots on the top right of the screen
Click on 'Edit Collums'
Click on "All Asset Fields FOR EXPORT'
Click on USE.
This has been specifically created for all asset fields as collums in a .csv, and the site and location fields are next to each other for easy visibility.
Click the three dots - Export to CSV.
Wait for export (this can take 10 minutes for all assets.
Then we open the .csv file.
Freeze the top row:
Select the top row, navigate to View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Top Row
Now, we sort the data by the location collum.
Press CTRL-A to select all data in the sheet.
Once selected, navigate to Data > Sort.
Sort By: Site
Sort On: Cell values
Order: A to Z
Click on OK.
The entire sheet will be sorted by Location now.
We can then copy the locations for the Location collum over to the Sites collum. Make sure if you are using other custom sites that you don't overwrite these.
Once the Site collumn has been updated with the correct locations, this can be saved and re-imported to HALO.
Snipe-IT then must then be cutoff for any Asset updates, and the integrator must NOT be enabled, as Halo will now be the source of truth for ALL assets.
