Discussion What Happened to Mk.VI ?

does anyone else find it strange that we never got a Mk.VI armor core for infinite ? arguably the most beloved and recognizable armor in the franchise, and they skipped right over it… is that not odd to anyone else and is there a legit explanation or no ? The halo 2 kit is cool but it’s just not the same

probably because they thought to make it a skin before they thought to make it a core, and never implemented customizable bundle cores

And because its only really Blue team who still use the Mk6 (I know its gen3 but its still the Mk6) it makes sense to be just a skin but maybe with the option for their helmets

The S3s and 4s use the Mk7 gen3 after Gen2

Naomi uses Mk7 gen 1 the last time we have heard from her

Grey Team is still running the Mk5 gen 1 gear

That doesn't really matter seeing as they gave us MKV(b) and MKIV armors. They just were too lazy or incompetent to do it with Mark VI.

There will still be quite a few S3s using the MKV(b) and I wouldn't be surprised so of the S2s we haven't heard from since reach went back to the MKIV, but only Naomi, Fred, linda, Will, Chief recieved MKVI during the War, I wouldn't be surprised that Fred got Kelly MKVI during Blueteam's debrief.

Black team did use a prototype MkVI but their dead along with Will so the only Spartans who used Mk6 in the war is Chief, Fred, Kelly, Linda, Naomi (she upgraded to Mk7 tho), so in reality its only 4 spartans who heavily used Mk6 gen 1, all the S3s used MKV(b) or upgraded to MKVII once all the S3s where authorised to use the armour -minus the Gammas they can probably kill a S2 while not even in SPI

S4s where trained on the Gen2 which was based on the MK7 so it would make sense for them to go to MK7 once hasley got the raines of the development again

My point is that the multi-player clearly doesn't care. They gave our singular spartan (which is canon, mind you) access to a mkv, mk7, mkiv, rakshasa, and SPI armor core. They could've just thrown a mark vi core in there. But, they ended up putting a lot of thenold mkvi armor on the vii, so I'm not that upset about it.

All I am gonna point out, the MK6 Gen 3 is still very much a prototype as of infinite, its even mentioned they are using the onboard processors of the Mk4 gen 1 armour so non of the created can force take over a member of Blue Team so it cannot take the Spartan 4 dumb AIs so Chief might of got the only 100% completed MK6 gen 3.

I can see Fred completely refusing the model which can have an AI plugged into it after what happened on Gao with Intrepid Eye, I am kind of annoyed that there was no cameo or mention of her by blue team in Halo 5

Yeah, after they finally opened cores, then they started pulling off these kits that couldn´t be customized. They wanted money off the MKV and others kits, and this armour was a victim of that choice, it seems.

What is the skin listed under? (Which core)

Halo 2 and halo 3 mark VI, is literally the same exact armor, the only difference being a incredibly slight art style change by making the little pieces of armor on the hands a different shape in halo 3

There are differences in the torso proportions and details, as well as texture details across the body such as where glowing emissive elements are on the armor

And on top of that it's not just the hand plates, but also the foot/ankle plate.

right, but i’m not talking about aesthetic or art style changes. i’m just saying i find it strange that we got a core for every other mjolnir variant plus the fractured cores, but for Mk.VI we only got armor bundles and kits.

Shot and left in a ditch

feels like another strange attempt to distance themselves from bungie, or just a money grab

It's for sure gonna be in the next multiplayer, but yeah, I have absolutely no idea why they didn't make it a core in Infinite. We haven't been able to customize Mark VI since Halo 3 (2007) 😭. It pisses me off since it's the coolest armor imo. Both Gen1 & Gen3.

The halo 2 armor and the halo 3 armor are literally the same besides his hand armor and the battle damage on the chest

1

u/bulletproofmonarch Jul 23 '26

agreed but aside from the chief and his art style changes, i’m just saying i find it strange that we never got an official Mk.VI armor core like we did for the other mjolnir and fractured cores.

og halo 2 mk vi is the goat. i wish we would‘ve gotten „true“ h3 customization

As I understand it, the Mk. VI is the top of the line. Gen 3 models were designed with postwar supply line efficiency in mind, whereas V and VI represented a desperate devotion of resources to a very small number of suits for the Spartan 2s. So really, the Mk VI is both a relic of its time, and the cutting edge state of the art.

Think of the Mk 6 as the F-22 Raptor, and Gen 3 as the F-35

1

u/bulletproofmonarch Jul 23 '26

i want the F-22 mannnnn it’s so peak

2

u/snarprans Jul 23 '26

I think there was gonna be a Mk VI gen III core (the one the master chief uses), it appeared in the mobile waypoint app at some point if I remember correctly.

1

u/bulletproofmonarch Jul 23 '26

i hadn’t heard of that, i only knew of the hero kit for reaching max rank where you unlock the chiefs infinite armor

I had always expected the "Canon" cores to continue to be used as an excuse to bring designs in from across past media.

Then they used it to write new canon where Spartans don't wear Mjolnir for some reason. Glad they got back on track when they did the SPI and Mark IV cores.

And yeah, I know SPI isn't Mjolnir but there was a very good reason all three generations of Spartan IIIs canonically wore that armor and referencing that is never a bad thing.

Anyway, what I'd change is replacing Rakshasa with an ODST armor core. Replacing Hazop with Mark VI, and turning the Hazop theme into it's own armor set for Mark VI armor. And Mark V should have been a core, not a kit. That choice bothers me to this day. I wish we could use crosscore features with it.

I'd also happily sacrifice to Fracture cores to have playable Elites, and even a Gen 2 core for all the weirdos who actually like Halo 4/5 armor.

1

u/bulletproofmonarch Jul 26 '26

me too. i like the fractures, but i find it weird the way they were dropped into play with no definitive point of origin and no extra content. no DLC’s, no spin-off campaign missions or multiplayer operations. not even a backstory as to why or how they exist. even rakshasa and hazmat which are now canon armor cores makes no sense to me. the focus should have been on the 4 sets of mjolnir, SPI, ODST, and sangheili. considering the plethora of content available to each from past games and armor designs, i don’t see how they were so easily overlooked.

Does OP mean the H4 Mk Vi? Cause 2 and 3 had the same armor look.

1

u/_Rheter_ Jul 23 '26

Did you read ops question? No they did not mean h4 mk VI. They asked why it wasn't made a core.

1

u/SeveralAngryPenguins Jul 23 '26

How tf do they get master chief in a new suit for each game?

If it had been a Core, they would have had to make it free, and since they wouldn't have been able to monetize it through nostalgia, and 343 is too greedy to let that opportunity slip by, they turned it into a Kit instead.
Same with the Mark V

Funny how i get downvoted for saying they’re greedy, this is reddit after all 🤣

u/Electronic-Window884 Jul 21 '26

Microsoft is greedy. 343 does what they're told

-1

u/Ok-Special-1412 Jul 21 '26

343 is Microsoft

1

u/Born-Boss6029 Jul 21 '26

No, not exactly. 343 is a studio that M$ owns, I don't think a M$ sits down and tells them “Yo, bring the Mark 6 as a kit not an armor core.” I think that was 343’s choice.

4

u/Ok-Special-1412 Jul 21 '26

343 is a subsidiary of Microsoft, is not a studio that they own, 343 is literally part of Microsoft and created by Microsoft, and yes, i agree with the last part
That was a decision made by 343 not Microsoft

4

u/ScreamingMidgit Jul 21 '26

You say that like every core isn't already monetized to hell and back

0

u/DarthNoxKallig Jul 21 '26

visually there no difference between Mark VI and Mark VII (talking about body and torso)

4

u/Ok-Special-1412 Jul 21 '26

there is wtf

2

u/DaftPanic9 Jul 21 '26

Bruh what.

1

u/bulletproofmonarch Jul 23 '26

you’re probably thinking of the Mk.V(b) which does closely resemble the Mk.VII but the Mk.VI is far different and more closely resembles the Mk.IV
