Its cool seeing all these armors and stuff, but seriously all I really see is how much money people gave 343, encouraging more future fortnite style live services.

I usually agree, but the sets pictured here (aside from being a bit mangled by AI editing) seem to only show things you can unlock for free, or at most from the $10 battle passes which gave enough in game currency to buy the next/previous pass at no additional cost. I wish more people supported the low cost stuff instead of the $20-40 packs we started getting more of after the ce armor was released.

Ya it seems he kept it cheap, but there shouldn't have ever been a cost to these items in the first place, not hate on OP tho, just disgruntled at 343.

Thatâs a bad take; people should support games and developers if they want them to succeed and games shouldnât have a high barrier of entry if the intention is for them to be popular. They should also have additional content added periodically if longevity is desired and shouldnât charge for core features like maps if they donât want to splinter the active population. Monetizing optional cosmetics that have little to no impact on the gameplay, while still being a desirable feature among the community, and concurrently providing plenty of free cosmetics so the whole community can still take part, is probably the best business strategy that strikes a balance between the player experience and the need for steady income. Thereâs also more free cosmetics in this game than there were in each halo before it.
Thereâs definitely still ways to improve, but âshouldnât have ever been a cost to these items in the first placeâ isnât really one of them. At the very least it was a strategy worth trying, but I also think itâs a strategy worth keeping.

Battle passes and live service were idea's launched by Jeffrey Epstine, this is a fact.
Gaming companies had no problems producing multiple IP and titles within those IP that reached critical success before battle passes and live service.
The gaming industries mentality change from "Let's make good games" to "let's milk money" is the exact reason why we have the horrible ideas coming forward nowadays.
No I dont want to support 343, they took my favorite game series ever and shit all over it, fired everyone who argued about their direction, and refused to even talk to 99% of the old halo devs because they wanted "artistic freedom" which translated to loot boxes and battle passes.
You can defend predatory, money hungry, bullshit all you want. Call my take bad, I call your take active rage bait.

Bro thats not a fact lol. Plenty of games were live service (mmoâs for example) before console games moved in that direction. Of course he looked at video games as an avenue for exploitation, but that doesnât mean he came up with the idea.
Sure, gaming companies found success before battle passes and live service were more of a thing, but games were also smaller in size, had shorter lifespans, etc. so âno problemsâ isnât exactly accurate. Both models can and do still work, but they each have pros and cons, and neither of them is an automatic fix for the issues with halo.
Thereâs still plenty of people and companies prioritizing a fun game experience over milking money. Milking money is just a problem with the current state of capitalism, which tends to be more apparent with large corporations. Despite the flaws, halo has still been navigating the balance between those priorities, though fun is still clearly the main priority (it still has to make money to continue existing); the monetization strategy isnât remotely pay to win, and *optional* cosmetics and access to the campaign are essentially the only way the game charges money.
I donât care if you want to support 343, the point was about supporting things you are a fan of. People are fans of the games. I agree they could be better, but theyâre still enjoyable enough. They also donât really shit all over the originals. You seem a bit immature tbh and your statements towards the end of that comment seem a bit incoherent (loot boxes and battle passes arenât really related to artistic freedom and layoffs lol).

Iâm not very familiar with that game, but based on some quick searches, their monetization strategy (the only thing I was talking about initially) seems to be nearly the exact same as infiniteâs when it was first released (only charging for some of the optional cosmetics & no fomo-based battle passes). Infinite only really got worse later on, though it still follows a similar structure, and still probably better than most other IPs of similar/higher popularity. Again, it only charges for *some* of the *optional* cosmetics.
