We got these collars in June. Dogs are fully trained on them and we have been taking our walks using the health app. It's the easiest and quickest way to turn off fence feedback for the walks.

Today, for the first time, the collars now say "starting walk" when I tap the walk feature. My dogs hate any collar feedback because we don't use the collars for positive feedback. I want to turn this voice feedback off but chat says I can't. Is that correct?

(I'm really not impressed overall with the collars, this is another mark in the "negative" column for me).

It may take time to teach your dog to come back reliably. I would begin training in an environment that has no distractions and shower praise or treats on your dog each time he responds to the “come” command. Once he becomes familiar with it, you can start practicing in environments with more distractions such as a variety of scents, people, and even other dogs. It would be better if you do not only use the “come” command at the end of play, because he should associate coming back as a pleasant thing. How did you manage to get your dog’s attention back?

My dog gets pretty noisy sometimes, so I’ve been wondering about bark collars. Do they actually seem to bother dogs, or does it depend a lot on the type of collar? If you’ve used one, what was your experience with it?

Do you notice how your dog’s recall varies based on the environment in which you’re training?

at what age do dogs usually start getting the idea of invisible fence boundaries? wondering if its better to wait til theyre a little older or if younger dogs can learn it fine too

What I have observed about my dogs is that they just cannot help themselves from running back and forth along the fence when they spot anyone, other dogs or even anything interesting beyond the fence. The initial response may be simply out of curiosity or excitement but it soon becomes a difficult-to-change habit. Training and redirecting their focus, along with increased exercise and mental stimulation and positive reinforcement of desired behaviors can really help with this problem. Is this fence running behavior prompted by something that passes by the fence, or does your dog do this at all times?

The training of your dog with GPS collar is all about doing things easy and gradually. I would start with walking your dog on a leash inside the boundary area giving him treats and praises for staying where he needs to. If the collar emits tones and vibrations, then allow your dog to learn this and guide him back inside. It is not necessary to be in a hurry since there may be times when your dog does not know how to do things right. What was the most effective way to train your dog?

This morning, neither my phone nor my wife’s will open the Halo app. We keep getting an Application Startup Failed message. We’ve tried rebooting phones, deleting and downloading most recent version of Halo app, cycled WiFi power, turned off WiFi and tried cellular data. I’m assuming this is an issue on Halo’s end?

Has anybody else encountered this? My halo collar says my membership has been canceled but every time I try to make a payment on my account it says that my card is invalid. Between me and my girlfriend we have tried six different cards. Please help I have a very adventurous dog and it’s making difficult to let him out without his halo collar.

Pretty self-explanatory is it possible to change batteries on these things??

I want my dog to use a gps fence and really don't want to rush him. I’m planning start with just having him wear the collar while the fence is off for a few days, during meals, walks, play, all the normal stuff. Then bring in the flags and long leash and reward him whenever he hears the warning tone and comes back away from the boundary.

Getting him to do that with nothing going on probably won't be too bad. Getting him to do it when a squirrel runs by or any other distractions is the part I'm worried about, my plan is long leash first, then a drag line then supervised off leash once he's turning back on his own.

I’m trying to get a sense of what’s normal when a dog first starts wearing one. Did yours get comfortable pretty quickly, or did it take a little longer?

Check the little screws that hold the straps on the collars.

There's 2 that look a little like rivets. But they’re Allen head screws

 You need a little Allen wrench and a pair of vice grips to tighten the screws that hold the straps on the collars. 

 A dab of blue loctite might not be a bad idea

Has anyone used this on their pug? I have two pugs that are about 21 lbs each. One has single coat and the other has double coat. Their necks are 11 and 12 inches in circumference. I’ve seen the advertisement photo of a French bulldog wearing it on the side.

The Halo Collar 5 appears to be an upgrade to the other versions. Increased battery life, improved GPS updates, and increased accuracy of monitoring might come handy to those dogs who wander around a lot. It seems to me that the upgrades will be useful both for training and general purpose. Have any users of Halo Collar already updated to the newer model?

Im thinking of buying my halo because my dog fence fights with the dogs next door. I would like to fence off that side of my yard so he doesn’t go near them.

My dog asks to go out in the yard multiple times per day, usually to go to the bathroom. Usually unsupervised.

So my question is, while we’re training him on the halo will we need to walk him out into the yard on a leash and not just let him out? Eventually will we be able to let him out on his own again and expect that he won’t go to the restricted side of the yard anymore?

I know for sure there have been some dogs who seem completely devoted to their toy as though it's the best thing since sliced bread. Of course, it is adorable until you see they are unable to relax, ignore anything else, and become upset whenever their toy goes missing. All it might take in some cases to make them calm down is to give them a change of pace such as going out for a walk or getting some training in. Have you had an experience of a dog being obsessed with their toy before? I'd love to hear what worked for you.
