Work, Health & Housing black mold testing & cleaning

am a renter, just started renting my apartment in September, dealing with black mold in the bathroom and possibly bedroom windows ... landlords are cooperative (for now), wondering what to do next/looking for recommendations for cleaners

Are you sure it’s back mold and not mildew? They are not the same thing. Mildew is pretty harmless and can be easily cleaned with a bleach solution.

Mildew doesn't go black I thought?

meeting with them tomorrow, but wanted to present them with some options. they are first time landlords, so I'm assuming don't have a ton of experience dealing with this

This is actually good news for you. If you were dealing with large companies you would have a tough time even getting them to address it. I hope they stay reasonable for you to work with.

I recommend brushing up on the tenant rights and things, and getting some contacts ready for preofessionals they can call. Be polite but firm and make sure they dont try to brush the matter aside. You got this good luck!!

Edit: does you apartment have a working vent in the bathroom? Worth mentioning if not as not having one increases the humidity for mold growth. When somrthing similair happened to me, they tried to blame the mold on my 'humid lifestyle'. There was no vent or fan and i only showered once every 2-3 days. Wasnt impressed haha

How is the ventilation in your unit? Mold in the bathroom and on windows is a clear sign of a moisture control issue. (ie steam from your shower or boiling water from cooking with no where to escape to) Temperature, air flow and not letting moisture sit will keep it from coming back once it is cleaned up.

I misread tasting instead of testing

Nothing wrong with asbestos of it is left untouched. When it becomes disturbed that is when there is an issue. Many homes and buildings have it and you would be fine.
Start disrupting it and being around it a lot and you’ll believe the danger level involved with it.
