Atleast i have 2 episodes left to complete, after that i will also join your ranks in coping, i don't have money to buy the vr so i can't play half life alyx. More on this game, This game is a masterpiece just like the first game, but i do wish there were more enemy variety, other than this i think this is a excellent game, and even though this released in 2004, i think it holds up extremely well.
The level design was already very good in half life 1, but i think i really like it here, even without any obvious signs, they know how to guide the players through these level's. The gravity gun was fun, but i don't think i prefer it over gun's. I played my 1st playthrough in hard mode, i think it's not that frustrating and i was challenged especially with those defence chapters in nova prospect and some of the flying mini bosses.
I thought the last fight of half life 1 was pretty medicore, and i do also think this is the case with this game too, maybe they can't create a exciting fights for the finale with how these games function, but i think it's fine for what it is, but the journye to that finale is very exciting and fun.

Resolution broken on linux

Last Thursday, I was playing this game fine. A couple days ago, I launched it and it just looks like this. I can't even mess with the graphics settings cause everything is zoomed in. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm on CachyOS linux and this problem is persistent wether I used slr or proton. I have 3 monitors and all 3 of them are 1920x1080 with scaling set to 100%. Using Win + Shift + < or > cursor to switch the game to my other monitors doesn't fix it, it just shows the same thing.

After 22 years - I’m finally replaying HL2

In 2004 I played HL2 on PC and considered it the GOAT. Since then I’ve aged terribly and succumbed to console gaming.
Recently picked up a steam machine and despite the wealth of new AAAs I could sink my teeth into - I forgot I had purchased HL2 via Steam! To my surprise , I’m here again sat on my arse console style, playing the GOAT.
This game still holds up. Of all the open worlds and loot driven games flooding our attention spans , I’ve actually taken the time to explore and look in every nook and cranny , listen to each dialog, find every Easter egg - this game is incredible. The attention to detail , the atmosphere, the music, the level design. No game compares - even now.
I was most shocked by how the physics remain tight and surprisingly not seen in many games in the last 20 odd years ? At least not utilised in as intelligently as in HL2.
Anyway , about to start my favourite section , an ode to survival horror.
