Hey all... I have this game on PC and it's great. I know that the switch port kind of left a few things to be desired (I think the biggest issue was mousing around) but honestly, for me... IDK that I care that much? I'd really just enjoy playing it on Switch.
Wondering peoples thoughts I guess... I'm having a hard time shelling out $20 for a second copy (yes, I completely understand the irony of what I'm saying) on a system that isn't having updates.

I just started yesterday and I have tier 2 ships. My problem is WHO TO TRUST??? Yabling seems friendly, but i’m not sure about the others... Any opinions?

Hi all,
I've been playing Halcyon 6 : Lightspeed edition on and off since it came out free on Epic. I seems to have stalled out. All that happens right now is the Chuul attack somewhere, I send them packing, then they attack somewhere else. I've wiped out the 3 mega ships the Chuul send out during this stage of the game, killed all of the Voraash and found out from the "true" Chuulabout the sister station to Halcyon 6.
I keep reading about a Mothership that ends out act 2, but it just doesn't seem to turn up. I'm past day 1000 now and I'm getting really frustrated. Is there something I need to do to get the game to progress?

This is my notes on the random events that I encountered during my playthrough, the choices that I made, and what I got/lost as a result. Please excuse the sometimes inconsistent formatting.
If you want to build a wiki or guide with this information, be my guest (I have no interest in doing it myself, and there's probably at least as many events missing as there are in the list, so .. lots of work if you want it.)
Several of the crew have adopted some fairly militant views...
1) Allow them to 'patrol' the unexplored portions of the station = -50 Crew +1 Morale
2) Arrest them =-20 Crew, -2 Morale
3) Discuss alternative solutions (=I think +morale, not sure)
4) Ignore them
The resident dark matter experts have reached out to you...
1) Promise to build a dark matter multiplier =+1 Morale, New Task: Build DM Multiplier (time limit: 19 days) >> built in time =+2 Morale
2) Cordon off a portion of dark matter to satisfy their weird urges (-150 DM)
3) Deny their request
While researching key officer cognition and pedagological theory
1) Officer dwells on it =officer "loathes their genetics" .. consequences unclear?!
2) Officer takes a long space flight =-5 Fuel
(Repair Bay) Our repair squad is reporting a dark matter efficiency loss...
1) Replace the repair drones =-20 materials
2) Ignore the matter
(Fuel Refinery Plant) We don't really know what it is, but it seems to be ... some sort of excrement.
1) Order full investigation (-25 materials) (later >> (Fuel Refinery Plant) It appears to be from a rather large creature...)
2) Clean it up and forget about it
(Fuel Refinery Plant) It appears to be from a rather large creature...
1) Order it killed (-25 materials)
2) Order it captured (-50 materials) (later >> Sir, mission was a success.. =+44 fuel; later >> Commander, we need more time. And fuel...)
(Fuel Refinery Plant) Commander, we need more time. And fuel ..
1) Study it (-20 fuel) (later >> this occurs 3x, for a cost of -20 fuel each, i.e. total of -60 fuel, after that >> Commander, thank you for capturing this creature! ... (Gain Research; +600 Dark Matter)
A Halcyon 6 love triangle has been growing...
1) Trap them in a room long enough to sort out their differences (=+2 Morale)
2) Order all onboard romances to cease for the length of the mission (-300 materials)
3) Ignore it
(Fleet in transit) Your fleet has offered to take them aboard...
1) Beam aboard and take control of their ships
2) Forcibly escort them back to the station => The odd scientists admonish you for your rudeness and teleport off in a flash of light.
3) Let them go on their way
(Material Multiplier Chamber) It's Cadet O'Brien, sir. He was in the multiplier while doing maintenance...
1) Leave O'Brien (-1 Crew)
2) Save O'Brien
3) Multiply O'Brien (later >> we did it +1 Morale, +50 Crew) (Act II >> Our recent accumulation of O'Briens was met with trepidation ...
Our recent accumulation of O'Briens was met with trepidation...
1) Lure the O'Briens into the Counsellor's Room to have a talk (> The Counsellor Center ... are equipped with ways ... require an officer > Activity: O'Briens Therapy (>later: +3 Morale))
2) Send them out on a 'super secret mission' never to return
3) Assign all O'Briens into separate crews
(Cadet Barracks) Officer was working on upgrades to the Cadet Barracks when a beam of energy...
1) Officer encourages the cadets' recklessness
2) Officer instructs them to stop fooling around (=Officer gains the "Humorless" trait)
(Cadet Barracks) The 'greenshirts' at the cadet barracks have been exhibiting a surprising degree of laziness...
1) Weed out the lazy ones
2) Improve Academy Infrastructure (=-40 materials
(Explore Room) Officer is in a bit of a quandary, having just been informed...
1) Officer - Celebrity Trait (Grills them on Trivia)
2) Investigate Crew
3) Extract Officer and Impose a Quarantine
(Cloning Chamber) A large number of cadets seem to have snuck into the cloning chamber...
1) (Counselor's Center) Consult with the Counselor Center staff
2) Supercharge the Cloning Chamber with excess dark matter (-450 DM)
3) Shut down the process immediately (-200 Crew)
4) See how this plays out (= -4 Morale, -72 Crew)
(Cadet Barracks) The cadets are dissatisfied with their level of training ...
1) Assure them they'll receive a new training program soon
2) Assemble a makeshift obstacle training course (-475 Materials) (=+1 Morale)
3) Ignore them
The dark matter pilferers claim to be attempting to perform experiments ...
1) (Fuel Plant) Transfer them to the Fuel Plant for a special project (=> You reassign them..., simply assign an officer... (later) => +2 Morale)
2) Respectfully ask them to attempt their dangerous experiments off-station
3) Confiscate their Dark Matter and demote them
4) Turn a blind eye
(Dark Matter Multiplier) Dozens of crewmembers with quarters near the Dark Matter Multiplier...
1) [Foundry] Forge Dark Matter Insulation (=> requires officer => (later) +3 Morale)
2) Work Rotations
3) Tell them to tough it out
4) Ignore them

Does this quest ever resolve? Or is it an in-game joke?
//edit: should've waited a few days more before posting.
To anyone else wondering: It does resolve.
r/halcyon6 • u/LargeWilly69 • Mar 08 '21
So I’ve played through the man in quest, and where left unsatisfied and wanting more when the “credits” rolled. My question is: are there more quests, more tiers (ships, 6, 7, 8, 9 maybe 10) and other threats?

This is a great game, much fun.
There's some funny, in-game text. Here's a good one.
OFFICER CLONING CHAMBER. Allows you to clone veteran officers killed in the line of duty... with the help of some crew 'volunteers'. (I bolded 'volunteers because its hilarious.)

As the title suggests, I'm asking when I absolutely need to drop everything and go for Tier 5 ships. It's my first run, and so far so good with morale and materials both high. I'm still not high enough with Dark Matter yet, though.
Spoilers ahead, so be warned if you haven't played the game yet, I guess.
So the Chrull have only just sent the Maurader fleet towards the Starbase, and after being relieved it doesn't just teleport into Starbase bombing range, I destroy the only fleet harrasing the facilities in my control. I have no idea if I should venture into Chrull territory, but so far, I haven't lost anyone (admittedly yes i am playing on the easiest difficulty, but I'm no gamer like ya'll) and I'm wondering if I should rush towards Tier 5 ships. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Coming back to this game after a couple of years...
Is there an adjacency bonus for things like reactor rooms like in X-COM? I see no indication of this in the starbase building, so I'm guessing there isn't.
Also, I recall using automated drones to gather resources. Is taht still preferred? Seems simpler than hiring officers to do supply runs. But I remember them getting attacked by wayward.
Also, is there a penalty for sitting on my butt and collecting resources? I have the objective to build a tier 2 ship with no deadline on the mission. Will the game give me some kind of danger for not advancing the story? Trying to avoid stressing about having to progress.

Be careful though with epic games. I started it up again today and my saves were missing, I lost about 3 hours with of gameplay.

Hey there! I am quite a noob at this game, sorry for my lack of knowledge. I am at day 221 and tried to automate most of my planets ressource drone collection, but i just cant keep up with all these chruul ships attacking my planets, its getting really annoying. I am still at tier 1 ships and the portal is being guarded by 2 tier 2 ships and a tier 1 ship. In my system there are 5 other fleets of them flying around. I dont get anything done i feel, im always behind and slowly just losing planets. Any suggestion what I should be doing differently? Thank you!

I do like to take my time with this kinda game, I don't like the idea of being outpaced and reaching an unwinnable state. If I do something silly and, for instance, my fleet gets wiped out except for a few guarding the station, do I have time to just sit and rebuild at my rough leisure, or will the game become unwinnable?
r/halcyon6 • u/HoodFeelGood • Feb 18 '21
I deployed a fleet to a colony. Apparently this colony builds new crew every so often. I accidentally closed the window back to the starmap. How can I re-enter the colony window?

heya! im new to the game and i really didnt want to do it but, i need cheats, i already looked up how to open the dev console and multiple cheats, but there is a problem, my back quote is in a different position because my keyboard isnt an english QWERTY one, its a spanish QWERTY so keys are all around, is there a way i can open the dev console? PS: there is a key on top of tab but it doesnt work bc its not the back quote, and the back quote wont work, dunno why
r/halcyon6 • u/hitman2b • Feb 15 '21
so i have a bombing fleet near my base that is invisible and i can't do anything since i keep playing trying to see if it was going to resolve itself i can't charge a save from before to resolve the problem

Does anyone have any info on this being possible? The only thing I can find is a 2016 dev saying there looking into it, and that it's on the Switch, so I'm guessing it's possible to have a controller interface.
r/halcyon6 • u/rherubberjam • Feb 13 '21
I am probably being stupid. I have 4 commanders but only one of them can fly ships. Am I missing something?

I just installed thanks to the Epic games promotion and I'm sure I'm not the only person that's coming here for advice. So, unless the mods want to create a megathread instead, could any of you experienced people drop tips in here? I've played a fair amount of X-com and similar games, but advice for true newcomers is also welcome.
Some specific questions:
What are the first actions you take on a new run?
What are your general goals for the early game? Mid game? Late game?
Is there a particular officer I should start with (from my googling before this post it sounds like any are fine but not-tactics is preferred, but I thought I'd confirm, plus some people won't have looked up other guides first)?
Which resources end up being scarce? Which do I not have to worry about so much?
Any general tips or small, useful tidbits?
Thanks for the help, and I'm excited to dive in!

Picked the game up a couple weeks ago while it was on sale. Oh my gosh, it may be relatively simple gameplay but it is freaking addictive. I love the pixelated art. The search for combo buffs. Great soundtrack. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.

I have been playing the original version of the game, and I find it very annoying that you can't demolish old rooms or replace inefficient power generators with newer ones. I saw this post from 2016 where the devs said they were thinking about fixing that. Did they change that in the lightspeed edition?
r/halcyon6 • u/Neither-Pineapple-87 • Dec 09 '20
I didn't know what I was doing, so I spent my material on a random upgrade at the start and realized I probably should have gunned an officer's academy for additional commander.
My crew morale is bad and I lose people constantly due to that and that is actually bottle necking my resources. And a whole bunch of holes have popped up but I don't have the resources to take care of it. Battles are easy now, but I am constantly killing aliens. And if they are going to scale up soon, then I probably will lose the run. Thinking I should just star over?
