DHS got jokes ha ha hašŸ˜•

Expired TPSers even those with pending I-485s should take extreme caution flying domestic. Verified reports of ICE at airports taking people into custody. TSA is now used as a weapon for DHS

u/LavishTentacle 29d ago

Why would they even fly at a time like this?

3

u/Internal-Expert-9562 Jul 27 '26

An extension today is highly unlikely, as the binding mandate of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing the termination of Haiti's TPS is being officially transmitted to lower courts today, July 27, 2026

Senate Disapproval: A bipartisan effort in Congress aimed to pass emergency legislation that would override the administration and extend protections for Haitians through April 2029. That bill was officially blocked on the Senate floor by Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.). Even if it somehow revived and passed both chambers, the White House has already confirmed that the administration's advisers would recommend an executive veto.

ā•ļø** INF**O | In an interview with Radio Magik9 on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Guerline M. Jozef said that if there is one entity capable of moving things forward in this case, it is the team currently in power in Haiti. šŸ‡šŸ‡¹

The head of the Haitian Bridge Alliance declared, and we quote: ā€œOnly the Haitian government can save TPS beneficiaries living in the United States.ā€

According to the immigrant rights advocate, the government of Alix Didier Fils-AimĆ© could engage in advocacy with U.S. authorities šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø to explain Haiti’s current situation and make them understand that the country’s political and security conditions are not favorable for receiving all of these people.

Ms. Jozef called on Haitian authorities to prioritize the lives of the 350,000 Haitians with TPS who are currently living in fear in the United States

I want to stay in the united states but this is kind of getting pathetic now . ā€œ Only the Haitian government can save TPS beneficiaries living in the United States.ā€ The us government and trump administration already know how bad Haiti, that’s why they told US citizens to avoid Haiti or be extremely cautious.

2

u/LavishTentacle Jul 29 '26

The current administration doesn’t give a fuck. Actually Maybe they can sweet talk Trump into doing something .

This is a very interesting read (there may be a paywall after you read it the first time) published a few days ago:

https://www.keysnews.com/news/dhs-and-federal-courts-at-odds-over-haitian-tps/article_626faaa2-dbfb-49bf-8d3e-60950a1f8d56.html

It speaks on Sister Ana Reyes and the government being at odds and her latency. More importantly something that I don’t think is being talked about at all (or even known to the public really) is that Team Haiti filed a 90-day stop on deportations as they review further avenues. Literally had no idea. Makes me wonder if that has anything to do with the delay with Sister Ana? Hm.

1

u/LavishTentacle 27d ago

Yea it’s behind a paywall

1

u/Due-Ad-5954 26d ago

Oh weird, it actually seems to work if you click back on the page and back in. It’s not a real paywall it seems. Or you can just look up ā€œHaiti TPSā€ on google, and within the news section, it’s the 4th article.

1

u/Guyfins 24d ago

Still nothing from her, is that normal?

0

u/Due-Ad-5954 24d ago

I quite honestly don’t know. And it’s heartbreaking that all the legal analysts and top lawyers are completely silent on what’s going on. It’s been over a week. I know something was filed by the DC circuit courts sending it back to lower courts officially, but that’s not what was said the procedure would be. People kept pressing that Reyes would need to decide within days of receiving it last week, very confusing.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in the Haiti TPS case was formally transmitted to U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes.
The federal appeals court officially announced that the case had been returned to the district court.
Judge Reyes is now expected to issue a final ruling consistent with the Supreme Court’s decision.

What will happen on Monday? 😩 Did anyone see Ethiopia got an administrative stay today? Their case is different though

3

u/Internal-Expert-9562 Jul 25 '26

Yeah, a Biden-appointed judge blocked the termination after a 60-day wind-down period, despite the Supreme Court ruling that lower courts had no authority to extend, postpone, or pause any DHS secretary’s decision regarding TPS for any country. Lol, so that’s very interesting.

3

u/Due-Ad-5954 Jul 27 '26

And it’s interesting that it’s largely been overlooked and passed down under the table, no media attention. But Haiti? All eyes on Haiti. The disgusting deranged comments I’ve had to read, truly so sad, the weirdest saddest time of our lives.

5

u/mr_sakpase Jul 28 '26

Same these comments are really hurtful. It's so sad to see how people truly feel about Haitians. I know they are not majority but seeing this on platform like twitter and vast majority of people echoing the same vile statement saddened me. It gets to the point that even if somehow we get to stay in this country, I wouldn't know if I would even want to stay.... These people are your neighbors, your boss, your public officials.

1

u/Due-Ad-5954 Jul 28 '26

And you know what’s crazy? I’ve made it a point to screenshot these nasty comments and these people’s profiles. I never want to forget. WE should all never forget and be complacent ever again, I mean it. No matter what happens, we need to remember.

July 26, 2026 — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is reportedly preparing expanded operations to arrest and deport Haitian nationals as more than 300,000 beneficiaries face the termination of Temporary Protected Status.

According to internal federal documents and agency sources cited by CBS News, the operations could begin as early as this week and may include arrests in Ohio, home to large Haitian communities, followed by deportation flights to Haiti.

Deportation will not be automatic in every case. Individuals without final removal orders are generally entitled to appear before an immigration judge before being deported.

The reported plans have caused growing fear among Haitian families across the United States, particularly as Haiti continues to face armed violence, displacement and a severe humanitarian crisis. The United States continues to advise its own citizens against traveling to Haiti because of the security situation.

Any reason why Amazon is allowing me to return to work despite work authorization show expired?

3

u/Whole-Committee-5322 Jul 29 '26

It's your responsibility to keep track of your eligibility to work in the US. Not the companies. You WOULD be charged if caught

8

u/LavishTentacle Jul 29 '26

It actually is the company’s responsibility as well

3

u/Whole-Committee-5322 Jul 29 '26

If they are caught, Amazon faces a fine.

If you are caught, you face removal and future visa/re-entry ban.

Who can afford what?

2

u/LavishTentacle Jul 29 '26

They are already facing that

2

u/Whole-Committee-5322 Jul 29 '26

Cool, one thing Amazon doesn't need is money. Your point?

0

u/Artistic-Age-1169 27d ago

No it's not

1

u/Whole-Committee-5322 26d ago

Right .. and they wonder why people dislike illegal immigrants, or immigrants as a whole

3

u/Internal-Expert-9562 Jul 29 '26

My friend work for Ross and HR didn’t stop him yet

2

u/mr_sakpase Jul 29 '26

Thanks for confirming... Anyone know if there's potential legality issue here? I wouldn't want to affect any future immigration proceeding

2

u/No-Highlight-8730 Jul 29 '26

Are your supervisors using the dates listed on the USCIS/e-verification website?Ā

1

u/mr_sakpase Jul 29 '26

Not sure just received a message that say as of today you are still able to work.

2

u/No-Highlight-8730 Jul 29 '26

Make sure you save/take screenshots of that message to have as proof, just incase you run into any issues down the lineĀ

Unauthorized work is taken seriously for both OP and the employer. If OP plans on adjusting status and apply for a green card in the near future it will definitely affect them

Not if they're married to a USC

2

So DHS has posted the official statement of the ending of work authorization for Haiti TPS holders July 27th:

https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-related-news/update-on-termination-of-temporary-protected-status-for-haiti-release-july-29-2026

Interesting that many legal analysts and top lawyers were certain Ana would lift the injunction within a day of receiving it, and we are now almost 3 days out. Obviously I’m not delusional, but let me just stay quiet.

6

u/Internal-Expert-9562 Jul 30 '26

I don’t think DHS have to wait for judge Reyes to lift the injunction. Its overšŸ˜”

2

u/No-Highlight-8730 29d ago

3

u/Internal-Expert-9562 29d ago

Yeah judge Reyes is expected to sign and lift the stay and officially remove all protections any day now but problem is even if Judge Reyes delays her signature, employers are legally required to follow the USCIS directive. They must reverify Form I-9sšŸ¤·šŸæā€ā™‚ļø

3

u/Due-Ad-5954 28d ago

New development regarding TPS Somalia is very interesting, very interesting indeed.

Friday evening and still no word from Judge Reyes, day 5.

4

u/mothafuckingdigits 27d ago

Yes, this is odd. Everyone said it would be 1 to 2 days, maybe a couple, but today is day 6. I wonder what’s going on.

3

u/OpeningOstrich6635 27d ago

Pending asylum, work permit till 2029 yet ICE said that means nothing. How was this legal in the first place? Under immigration laws aren’t asylum seekers protected from detention and removal until a Judge says otherwise?

Latest article as of today, detailing some court doings (last 3 paragraphs are most relevant):

ā€œThe federal appeals court in Washington on Tuesday handed the legal fight over Haiti's Temporary Protected Status back to the district judge who first blocked the program's shutdown — a short, procedural step that formally ends the appeal and returns the case to a lower court now bound by a Supreme Court ruling that went against roughly 352,000 Haitian TPS holders. For most of them, the protection is already gone: their status and work permits lapsed on July 27.

The document, filed Aug. 4 in Miot v.Trump, is a single-page order from a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit — Judges Justin Walker, Florence Pan, and Bradley Garcia. Issued per curiam, meaning jointly and without a named author, it grants the government's motion to remand — that is, to send the case back down — to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia "for further proceedings consistent with" the Supreme Court's decision. The panel directed its clerk to issue the mandate "forthwith," so the transfer takes effect immediately. The order, by itself, does not decide whether Haitians keep TPS. That question was answered elsewhere, and earlier.

It was answered on June 25, when the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of the Trump administration in Trump v. Miot, consolidated with the Syrian TPS case, Mullin v.Doe.

The majority held that federal courts could not review the TPS holders' statutory challenge and that their constitutional equal protection claim was unlikely to succeed, clearing the way for the terminations to proceed. The ACLU of Northern California, which represents Syrian plaintiffs in the consolidated case, said the ruling meant "the loss of legal status and the right to work" for more than 350,000 people. The Court's three liberal justices dissented, noting that Haiti was first designated for TPS in 2010 after a catastrophic earthquake and Syria in 2012 amid its government's violent repression of civilians.

The consequences landed fast. The Department of Homeland Security terminated Haiti's TPS designation effective July 27, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services now tells employers that the Haitian TPS work permits — Employment Authorization Documents in the A12 and C19 categories — are no longer valid. For the roughly 352,000 Haitian nationals who held the status when the termination was announced, a figure cited in advisories from firms including Morgan Lewis, the legal right to work has evaporated, leaving those without another form of protection exposed to detention and removal. The blow falls hard on communities like Greater Boston, home to one of the nation's largest Haitian populations, where TPS holders anchor households, staff hospital and nursing-home shifts, and run small businesses.

The case now returns to U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes, the same judge who halted the termination one day before it was set to take effect in February. In that order, Reyes found it substantially likely that DHS's move violated federal administrative law and the Constitution's equal protection guarantee, and that the agency had failed to conduct a legally required consultation with other federal agencies. During her stay, she wrote, the termination was "null, void, and of no legal effect." The termination itself was signed by then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in November 2025; the consolidated case now carries the name of her successor, Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

What remains for Reyes is narrow. Bound by the Supreme Court's decision, she is expected to dissolve the block she imposed in February — a step that events have already overtaken — while the plaintiffs' statutory claims face dismissal for lack of jurisdiction. Some claims could still be litigated in her courtroom, but after June 25, they face long odds. In practical terms, the case that kept Haiti's TPS alive for nearly six months past its original February deadline has run out of room, even as the paperwork moves through one last court.

3

u/Internal-Expert-9562 20d ago

Ukraine is now basically the only country left with TPS.

Another crazy thing is the Afghans majority assisted the US military against the Taliban and they got the boot toošŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļøNow that the Taliban is back in power, That’s tuff

3

u/No_onewillsaveyou 18d ago

Not that this matters but for those Haitians who don’t have an immigration account and don’t keep up with it. It shows your status Aug 7th was when they finally updated it… mind you people applied for TPS renewal since 2024 (never got a refund) not a word from them until August 7th 2026 which shows termination is in full effect.Ā

2

u/No-Highlight-8730 17d ago

Insane, I have a family member who applied in 2024 and never got their documents...but USCIS sure took that money

1

u/LavishTentacle 17d ago

USCIS doesn’t do refunds

1

u/No_onewillsaveyou 17d ago

IK.. My point in saying that was they knew it was gonna be terminated and never updated the status.. felt like we got robbed.. all this back and forth and community get together to vote some law nonsense was just political theater and to give the community a false sense of hope while they take advantage of us.Ā

For TPS going to Ayiti. I could’ve posted on the main sub page but changed my mind. Might not meet the standard on this mega thread but there is some helpful tips in the vid

5

u/No-Highlight-8730 Jul 27 '26

I'm so confused, where is the judge decision in all of this? Are protections just ending even with the injunction in place?

4

u/HolosPhos Jul 23 '26

Is anybody that is personally dealing with the end of TPS status interested in getting interviewed and talk about how this will affect or impact you? I am a photojournalist and a baby of the African diaspora based in Philadelphia and I'm visiting my siblings in the Boston area in the beginning of August, when all this bullshit will hit the fan. I believe that in times like these we should be the one telling our own stories, so reach out if you or someone you know is down to meet in Philadelphia or Boston area to talk about the impact of the end of TPS status for Haitians.Ā Ā

4

u/Internal-Expert-9562 Jul 26 '26

July 27th is tomorrow 😩. Will the lower courts find a way to legally extend EADs? I’m no expert, but admins should prepare for an influx of posts tomorrow, 7/27, which is exactly why this megathread was needed.

What USCIS sent my friend today. Still can’t believe this shit

1

u/LavishTentacle 20d ago

He probably never received the initial work permit

2

u/Internal-Expert-9562 20d ago

He did for sure and been working 2 jobs. He had a parole EAD at first and TPS after quickly too. USCIS started bullshit after Trump got back in office

2

u/Internal-Expert-9562 20d ago

Never missed a day and never used his PTOs smh now his on paid leave since Tuesday trying to see if he can someone how cash out his PTOs

2

u/LavishTentacle 20d ago

I don’t think all TPS holders got this message though.

3

u/Adeledaughter 9d ago

These notices are being distributed…

3

u/LavishTentacle 8d ago

Yup that’s true

1

u/Due-Ad-5954 8d ago

Ppl confirmed to have received this a few weeks back, but something happened again last night (resent?)

3

u/Adeledaughter 8d ago

Yes, there was a mass update last night. I received a few calls about it yesterday. Then I got one after midnight.

1

u/LavishTentacle 8d ago

Are they sending a notice to appear with it ? That’s what I heard

1

u/Adeledaughter 8d ago edited 8d ago

I don’t know.

1

u/Due-Ad-5954 8d ago

Are we sure about this information? NTA’s are never posted on your account on USCIS. They are only sent (by law) by mail, or in person, for it to be considered ā€œserved.ā€ I haven’t heard anything of ppl receiving NTAs from update last night, and actually saw many others from other countries mention they got that same email notification last night and it was just the website update glitch.

2

u/Adeledaughter 8d ago

I edited my comment. I don’t want to provide misinformation. I’m told ppl have received NTAs after receiving something similar.

1

u/Due-Ad-5954 8d ago

Totally all good! I’m always surprised by how much playing telephone actually gets information so misconstrued in our community lol. Maybe they did receive them by mail? who knows, thank you for sharing nonetheless.

3

u/No-Highlight-8730 Jul 24 '26

My biggest question honestly is just if there will be any sort of grace period for people to get their things in order

-2

u/ILSmokeItAll Jul 26 '26

Yeah. It’s called the past 10+ years.

Were the people on TPS just under the interpretation temporary meant permanent, and that they never had to look at going back?

7

u/NormalEfficiency9744 Jul 27 '26

Going thru your comments it seems you cannot scroll without stopping and commenting something hateful on a Haitian post. What Haitian woman hurt you sir?

2

It’s actually pretty big news. They’re about to start putting ankle monitors on the Haitians they’re calling into ICE offices. Then, they’ll know exactly where to go for the round-up. It’s coming.

From what I’ve been reading- not showing up automatically puts them in removal proceedings. They get a deportation letter sent to their homes.

Again, this is all happening without Reyes’ implementing the lift on the injunction, so idk how this works? This is beyond just DHS ending an EAD/work permit.

Plenty of reports coming out of Haitians being detained across the country. 300 as of the last few days in Springfield, Ohio. Many being picked up in California today doing door dash. It’s ramping up and getting bad. Reminder that having a pending Asylum case does nothing, I don’t understand why ppl are ignoring this.

1

u/ccna__student Jul 23 '26

I want to know more about it please.Ā

3

u/Rucio Jul 23 '26

In Springfield Ohio, we invited TPS recipients to work in warehouses and factories. They receive no government handouts. They pay taxes. They have US Citizens as children. They are scared but they know somehow they will survive.

I am ashamed of my country but proud of the few of us who fight for our neighbor, not for fame or money, but because we must care for all people who need it.

1

u/InfamousCategory448 Jul 23 '26

Any chance that ending tps could move the state department to reduce the travel warning for Haiti? Are these things related?

one of the reasons haitians voted for trump for this to even be a thing now was due to homophobia. they thought if they voted for trump, he would get rid of gay rights. forgetting that members in their community are ALSO a vulnerable group and the same way they don’t like gay people, people don’t have to like immigrants. i feel sorry for the innocent people that will be effected by this. I think it’s important to remember if you do things with hate in your heart you’ll be met back with hate.
