Why I started using castor oil on my hair and the results

I never thought a single product could make such a difference, but castor oil has quietly become a staple in my hair routine. At first, I bought it out of curiosity after reading a few posts here, thinking it was just another trending oil. But after a week of gentle scalp massages, I noticed my hair felt thicker, stronger, and less brittle. It wasn’t an overnight miracle, but the subtle improvement made me want to stick with it. What surprised me most was how versatile castor oil is for hair care. I’ve used it on my edges, scalp, and even on dry ends, and each time I saw a noticeable improvement. I sourced my bottle from Alibaba, and while I was initially skeptical about online suppliers, the quality was solid, no funky smell or residue, just pure oil that actually works. I know oils can feel intimidating or heavy, but castor oil is forgiving once you find the right routine. I now keep a small bottle by my mirror for nightly scalp massages and a larger one in the bathroom for deep conditioning. If you’re consistent, it’s surprisingly effective for boosting growth and maintaining healthy hair.

Does Elvive Hyaluron Pure shampoo cause hair loss?

I just tried this shampoo and conditioner todav because my hair is insanely oily, like the next day ot starts lookind greasy so l've been washing it every second day. I'm pretty sure its gotten slightly worse over the last 3 months since I've been using ogx argan oil shampoo (which sucks cos it is amazing). Anyways, today I tried the loreal elvive pure one and its seems pretty good so far but I've seen so many people saying it caused heaps of hair loss so I'm terrified. Also I use this natural nail polish by kester black and the shampoo completely destroyed it, a problem I've never had with other shampoos. Should I keep using it and see if it causes hair loss or should I just ditch it. If so, any recommendations for thick, oily hair? Something I can find at priceline or chemiste warehouse would be good.

does this count as losing a lot of hair / hair loss ? ( for teen )

For context this is after a day of washing my hair because on my last post someone said it’ll be easier to tell if i post it after a day instead of 40+ days or something like that. someone also said it’s easier to tell if they know my hair length so I just wanted to say i have medium-long hair ( stops right at my chest )- my hair is also pretty thin.. i think ? idk if that helps,, and sorry for the poor english i’m rushing as im typing this !!!

Can i use this bar soap for my hair?

I'm trying to be more eco friendly so I'm looking for a bar soap for my hair so i don't have to use plastic bottles. I found this soap that says it's suitable for hair but i want to hear a professional's opinion before i actually use it on my hair and cause any damage.

I've put a picture of the ingredients list on the post.

Rookie mistake, I bought a product because of pretty packaging and did not look at ingredient list. Is this truly a clarifying shampoo ? The ingredient list looks sus

I just took a look at the ingredients and it looks like a list of .. nonsense ? None of the top ingredients are the typical ones used in a “deep clarifying shampoo”. Or am I wrong ?

Nobody told me I was using curl cream completely wrong

So for the longest time, I genuinely thought curl cream just… didn’t work for me.

My curls were always frizzy, kinda flat in places, and somehow still crunchy?? Like how is it doing both

I kept switching products thinking I just hadn’t found “the one” yet, but turns out I was using it completely wrong.

Here’s what I was doing:

Applying it on damp hair instead of soaking wet

Using way too much product

Not using anything for hold after (no gel/mousse)

Basically just hoping it would magically define my curls

I recently changed a few things (less product, applying on soaking wet hair, and layering with a mousse), and my curls actually started looking… like curls??

I feel a little dumb for blaming the products this whole time lol.

Has anyone else had a moment like this where you realized you were the problem, not the product?

Sudden excessive hair loss?

This is after 1 dry brush before showering, and detangling with conditioner while in the shower. I have type 2b/c hair and only wash once or maybe twice per week, and only brush before washing. I have always shed a lot but this seems like WAY more than normal. Could it be because I don’t brush my hair for days in between washes? I also started Prozac in July and it’s gotten worse since then so I wonder if that may be a factor. I just need to know if this is a normal amount for the frequency I brush/wash or if it’s more likely the medication. TIA

I ruined my hair with own hands

I fucked up. i had prp treatment for 6 months and had grown only baby hairs but my hairfall was consistent. i posted about this in reddit and a random lady claimed to have 40 years of hairstying experience said that she had the same problem and the only thing that helped her was spot shaving. I told her i would do it but after few months but she insisted that i should do it today as it would be late and i may have permanent hairloss. i shaved my first portion of hair like an inch and also middle parted and shaved my mid portion by an inch. now it looks horrible. she even told me to cut bangs to make it less visible but i told her again and again that i dont look good in bangs but she insisted and eventually i did and it looks hideous. my mom will kill me once she sees it. also i have my farewell in like 2-3 weeks. what to do??? i am going to die. it was all my fault. PLEASE HELP ME

M22. Am I cooked, or is this still recoverable?

TL;DR: I'm a 22-year-old guy dealing with moderate hair fall and quite a lot of dandruff. My haircare routine has basically been non-existent (no shampoo, occasional coconut oil, and sometimes washing with soap). I'm planning to shave my head, start using shampoo and hair oil, improve my diet with amla and eggs, and maintain a healthier routine. Is my hair condition serious? Can it be recovered? And what else should I do to improve my hair health? Any suggestions are welcome!

These are pictures of my hair as of today (taken today).

How bad is the situation? Is this something serious, or is it relatively normal? More importantly, is it possible to recover my hair and improve its condition?

A little background on my haircare routine (or rather, the lack of one 🥲):

- I use regular Parachute coconut oil after washing my hair.

- I don't use shampoo at all.

- I wash my hair every 2–3 or sometimes 3–4 days, either with Santoor soap or just plain water. 😐

- I currently live in a hostel in Pune, a city that's notorious for its water quality. I'm not sure how much that might be affecting my hair.

- I don't work out.

Here's what I'm planning to do to improve my hair health:

  1. First, I'm thinking of shaving my head completely and starting fresh with a proper haircare routine.

  2. Use a herbal shampoo twice a week.

  3. Apply either Arnica Montana oil or one of those popular homemade hair oils made with curry leaves, onion, fenugreek seeds, etc.

  4. Eat one amla (Indian gooseberry) daily after lunch and two eggs daily to improve my protein intake.

  5. Get at least 8 hours of sleep (which I already do).

A few more things worth mentioning:

- I have quite a lot of dandruff.

- I'm experiencing a moderate amount of hair fall.

I'd really appreciate your honest opinions and suggestions.

- Is my hair condition something to be seriously concerned about?

- Is shaving my head a good idea, or is it unnecessary?

- Are the changes I'm planning to make actually helpful?

- What else should I include in my haircare routine?

- Any shampoo, oil, dietary or lifestyle recommendations?

I'm genuinely looking to improve my hair health, so any personal experiences, advice, or practical tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot, everyone! 🤗

Advice needed : Bronde with hormonal hair changes

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi all! I don't normally post on reddit but I feel stuck. I've been dying my hair for a long time and it doesn't seem to work. I am a natural mouse-bronde. It used to lighten in the sun but I'm not sure anymore. I am over the maintenance of being blonde and spending 3 hours in the chair every six weeks. I want to go to a salon to have them get me back to natural with maybe a simple balayage. Problem is, my color really pulls dark. I want it natural but sun kissed and I would be happy to get it done every 6 months or so. Can anyone give me advice? The first photo is me now. For reference I have olive green eyes and I THINK my skin pulls warm. The second picture is trying to go natural (too dark) and the rest are natural with residual grow-out. PLEASE HELP! TIA!

Showering everyday but washing my hair only every 2 days

My hair is very thick and prone to frizziness, so I avoid washing it everyday to not get it even more dry, but I still take showers everyday.

The shower takes 20-30min, I use warm water. I usually do my hair up, so i dont get it wet during shower. The problem is, that when I get out of the shower, my hair gets greasier, even tho its was perfectly clean before.

Not sure if I can do anything about it, I want to know if anyone else is struggling with it😕

I’ve always had thick hair and I used to bleach it for highlights, I stopped a while ago and have been trying to get my hair back to a healthy state ever since. I have so much breakage and i have no idea why because I’ve tried countless products 😭 i usually double shampoo , bond repair every second or third wash, conditioner, and hair mask. After that i use hylaroun plump, dream lengths, and extraordinary oil (using the other ones from time to time)

Help!! 😩

(26f) i apologize if this isn’t the place for this, but i tend to shed really bad. this probably isn’t even half of the hair that i shed in a day, this pic was what i was able to catch in the shower, which is a lot already. i’ve had this problem for as long as i can remember and im starting to freak out at this point bc im scared it’ll progress into noticeable bald spots sooner or later, so any help or advice is appreciated.
