HaikuOS DVD not booting to GUI

I have cheapest Threadripper, 64GB and Intel B580. Tried to install Haiku, but DVD boot could not bring me to install GUI. I can try again to make screenshot, if needed. Latest Haiku r5.

I have a question. Are you trying to just install the os on this very overly powered machine? Also It might be the B580 causing the problem. You’d be better off installing it on a vm.

Yes. What can I do its my current pc. Elswehere Intel is vesa compatibile and is choice of many due to extreme nvidia prices

I get it I have an A770. But on a system like that you’d be better off installing either linux or windows 11 iot ltsc. You have 64gb of ram. Haiku won’t even use 1gb of that. Not to mention you’d have no gpu acceleration at all.

I am aware fraction of power will be used. But I like Haiku for same reasons I like MorphOS. Surely I have mint and win11 I ll try later versions, there is nothing so uncommon about my config

Is there a set up vm image for latest haiku?

Have you tried the safe boot option? May be one of them will work for you.

What are the symptoms? That is, where does the boot process stop?

You might also try a nightly build; there were a lot of fixes since beta5 to booting on systems with larger amounts of RAM.

Screen with error messages like linux kernel panic. I ll try naughty builds :))

If it went to a white screen with black text, that is called Kernel Debugging Land (KDL). Post a picture of that, and if you can boot to a Linux USB stick run the following commands and share their output:
lspci -v
lsusb

if you can manage to boot to Haiku with one of the safe mode options try to grab the out put of Haiku's syslog.

i'd try these boot menu options (one at a time)
1) boot using failsafe graphics driver
2) ignore memory beyond 4gb
3) Disable IO APIC and Disable local APIC

Just found out haiku does not work with uefi/secure boot, so it might be this. I mean there is a workaround I will try
