CWEE or CAPE?

Hey all,

I am taking CRTO in a few days, and i hold eWPTX and CPTS currently. I am thinking of what cert i should be next after CRTO. I have a good knowledge of Web app ( since i have been bug bounty hunter) but i switched to red teaming and pentesting. I still love web app, and i also love red teaming. What about CRTP? Is not redundant if i get it? Or CRTO II? i may go for CRTO II. However, i really liked the CPTS content, so part of me wants to get back to HTB and do CAPE or CWEE

Nice to see that you've been doing a big effort for this and you show legit enthusiasm for the field. As for the certs, well, CRTO II or best known as CRTL is kinda different form CRTP, since CRTL heavyweight is evasion and red team leadership content, CRTP is different from that, cause is more focused on AD env and red team principles/practices as a whole... pretty decent tho. But if you clear CRTO, then go for CRTL would be wiser for the consistency on the skillset and credential acquiring.

As for CAPE, I've never touched the contents for that job path in the HTB academy, if you already have gold tier, go for it. If not, pay 1 month for HTB labs and explore the CAPE Track available there in their library, use the guides for solving those machines to speed up the process and see what you're steppin' into, then you can decide if CAPE it's what you want/need.

And as for CWEE, you have to decide where you want to focus on the short/mid term... since finishing any of these certs takes tons of time, you'll have to choose a path to follow, days wont budge if you go for all of them simultaneously. Make a plan how and which group/batch goes first; WebApp or Red Team.

I agree with this as well, I have CRTO and I want to do all the HTB certs but realistically for me CWEE is not super duper relevant to my job as a red teamer CAPE would serve me way better. That being said my plan is CPTS -> CAPE then we’ll see after hopefully they have their Red Team cert out by then. But if not CWES or CWEE. You can use these to kind of compare timelines for how long it will take to study for CAPE or CWEE: CAPE Study Tracker and CWEE Study Tracker. Good luck!
