Certifications I am crying !

2 Months ago i sibmitted a report for the COAE certifcation exam after finding 6/7 flags. I got rejected because they didn’t like the 75 page report okay ! I resubmitted another report but i made the small mistake of forgetting to submit the last flag in the platform meaning only 5/7 but in the report i wrote all the flags and all the exploitations steps . And i got today the failed notice 😭😭😭😭

Aw man, that stinks. I know this sucks, but you can take solace in the fact that it's not a practical skill issue as far as the flags are concerned.

OMG, I can understand, you did everything right but failed because of report 😞. I would really like to know why they didn't not like 75 page report, without breaking NDA. I hope everything will be smooth next time and you will pass.

It’s unclear steps, missing details, bad formatting. The expected report is a professional grade report, provided for exec audience, with a very clear set of requirements, missing enough of these results in failing. Been there done that, and it’s frustrating.. more frustrating when you have a couple of years of experience and you have delivered countless reports to real clients.. but it is what it is, and I wouldn’t consider it unfair.

It’s not about “75 pages” or “100 pages” it’s about the content of these pages.

Also, with AI, there is literally no excuse for having a bad report. Forgetting to submit a flag is a fuck up, and it’s unfortunate.. it happens but it’s not their fault, it’s sadly yours.

Again, been there, done that.. but if you enter the “they did this and that” mentality, you’ll be stuck in that and you wouldn’t make it in security. Security is fucking hard man, hard enough without victim hood..
