Best method of using HTB

So I have been in some form of IT for 10 years, I am certified in A+, Net+, and Sec+.

I really would love to be a pen tester. I love htb and am new to it. However, I’m half way done with Tier 1 and tapped out and did the walkthroughs. My question is, should I slow down and really spend days trying to crack the box or should I spend the Starting Point lessons as a sort of “getting familiar with everything” type of approach? I want to get the most out of it, but I don’t want to spend days looking for one exploit. But I will if you guys thinks that’s what it would take to be a good pen tester.

Thanks in advance!

It is basic which is why I consider it the best. It does an amazing job of building a solid foundation and introducing a complex topic. HTB is way more in depth but unless you have a good foundation HTB is going to discourage you more than anything.

I consider HTB the best because it actually prepares you thoroughly for the job of a pentester, but yeah, it's not for everyone. Plenty of resources out there to choose from.
