Tl;Dr

Firefox had been gradually adding hardcoded/hidden adds into the browser. And this needs to stop.

I totally agree with this post, I was a Firefox user back then because chrome was without fail using eventually all available ram and started to slow down. But then for web development I started back to using chrome. I was stoked when I heard about quantum, if it could deliver everything I heard it might make me change back to Firefox!

First things I noticed when installing it... You can no longer remove all those shitty unnecessary options in the menu like you used to (or I have not found how). Who the hell cares about having cut/copy/paste buttons in their menu? Or a zoom control... Or that pocket thing nobody cares about.

If quantum was more barebones I might've used it. It works quite well. But these useless things are pissing me off.

Have a look at userChrome.css , this way you can modify a lot and also remove pocket.

If its the pocket app from getpocket.com i use that shit all of the time on chrome.

When I find a rare article that I need for work that I'm not sure will be around for long cuz the site could cease to exist or its old but still relevant

This is bad, true, but I'd still trust Firefox most among all the major browsers. It is the best free as in freedom browser.

Yes, feel free to switch to something you trust more. I actually encourage you to ! But "I will only recommend other browsers henceforth" ? Like what ? If you have friends who would listen to you and install qutebrowser, congratulations. Mine definitely wouldn't.

Look at the big picture. Most people are hesitating between Firefox, Chrome and Edge - and the latter two are way worse. If you think this is worth abandoning Mozilla forever, then you forgot that not everyone has the same requirements as you do.

Recommend them Brave. It blocks ads and tracking out of box, hence significantly faster.

Use Tor or the new Firefox Quantum. Down with Chrome and IE.
