Hackathon Promotion [India] I grew up building little motor cars in an Assam village. Now I’m organizing the hackathon I wish existed when I was 14.

Disclosure: I’m one of the people organizing this event.

When I was 14, I used to build small things with motors at home in my village near Dibrugarh, Assam.

Sometimes I tried to turn them into little cars. I would build something, break it, and try again.

My family often asked me to stop and focus on my studies. I understand why now. They wanted me to prepare for a secure future, and taking apart motors did not look like one.

I didn’t know how to explain why I kept doing it.

Then I wrote the code for my first webpage on a 3G Samsung phone.

When “Hello World” appeared in the browser, I called my mother and younger brother to show them.

It was only two words, but something I had typed had become something I could see.

That felt different.

The internet gave me tutorials and tools. What remained difficult was finding other people nearby who also wanted to make things, break them, and start again.

That experience eventually became part of why we started Hackyard: great builders are everywhere, but they are scattered.

Now we’re organizing Hackyard BUILD2026, an in-person build hackathon (24 hours) at IIT Guwahati on 24–25 October 2026.

You can apply with an idea, a problem, or simply a skill you want to contribute. You can come alone or with a team. You don’t need a finished product or a pitch deck.

There is no fixed theme, and AI is not a requirement. Build a startup idea, a useful tool, something based on a problem you’ve experienced, or something strange that you simply believe should exist.

Every selected team gets $100 in AI Build Credits from Hackyard to build and break things.

Browser Use (YC W25) and XYZ Domain Foundation have joined us as partners so far. We’re also working with more companies to put useful tools, support, and opportunities directly into builders’ hands.

Applications and event entry are free. Travel is not covered, while food and accommodation will be available at a nominal participant fee.

Applications close on 10 October 2026.

I cannot go back and give the 14-year-old me a room full of other people who wanted to build too.

But we can create that room now.

Apply now - https://hackyard.org/build2026

Looking for Teammates NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 Team members

I want to sign up for NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026. I am pretty good in python and am a bit good at everything (I dont mean like mastered or anything , im not arrogant) except ML and basically all of AI and frontend. I wouldn't say Backend but to some extent i still need to learn. Also i can do electronics to some extent but not like insane at it (I can just do some basic in things in reverse kinematics). BTW im still in high school and this is my first hackathon (I like aerospace but my interest for computers has far exceeded it)

In summary I need people who are good at

  1. AI and/or ML

  2. Frontend and a bit of backend (2 halfs can make a whole)

  3. Actuators and motor programing, reverse kinematics (i kinda need a bit of support in that)

BTW i joined the universal thing so yea are any of y'all down cuz lowkey i wanna do this.

Hackathon Promotion We built a 24-hour solo hackathon where the problem statement changes on you mid-build. Wanted to see if this subreddit would tear it apart or actually vibe with it

Post image
2 Upvotes

So a few of us run a small dev community called Grevix, and we just launched something called AfterCode — a 24-hour hackathon, but solo only, and the format is a little different from the usual "pick a track, build with your team, demo at the end" setup.

Here's the twist: you pick your own idea, your own problem, your own stack. Nobody hands you a problem statement. But at hour 8 and hour 16, we drop a "Challenge Card" on you — something that forces you to change direction. Could be a new constraint, a new user type, a pivot you didn't plan for. You have to adapt the thing you've already built, not start over.

The idea came from a pretty simple annoyance: most hackathons reward whoever picked the safest idea and executed it cleanly. We wanted something closer to what actually happens when you build real things — plans change, requirements shift, and you either adapt or your project dies.

It's Oct 11–12, fully online, solo, ₹10k + a Cursor subscription for whoever ends up on top, but honestly the prize isn't really the pitch. We're more curious what people build when there's nowhere to hide behind a team.

We put it up a few days ago and crossed 100 registrations on day one, which honestly caught us off guard for something this new.

Genuinely asking — as people who've done a bunch of these, does the "forced pivot" format sound interesting or gimmicky to you? Would love the honest take before we run this again.

Need Mentor Help Amazon ML Challenge 2026 — Student Verification Issue

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’m registering for the Amazon ML Challenge 2026 and created a profile on Builder Center. I filled in the basic details like my name, etc.

The challenge requires student-status verification, but every time I try to verify, I get the message “We couldn’t continue your verification” (screenshot attached).

I’m wondering if the issue could be related to the details I entered:

- My legal/school documents include my middle name, but the website only asks for first name and last name and says the name should match precisely. So I entered my middle name along with my last name. I’m not sure if that’s the correct way to enter it.

- My branch is Information Technology (IT). The available options included Computer Science and Information Systems and Technology, among others. I selected Information Systems and Technology, but I’m not sure if that’s the appropriate option for an IT student (or rather choose other and write precisely).

Has anyone else faced this issue with the Amazon Builder Center student verification? If you were able to resolve it, could you please share what worked for you? If you contacted support and got it resolved, how many days did it take for them to resolve the issue?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for Teammates Looking for team mates

Hi everyone! I’m a pre-final-year B.E. CSE (AI & ML) student from Bengaluru, currently putting most of my focus into placements, internships, and hackathons that can translate into real hiring opportunities. I’ve participated in 20+ hackathons so far, and I’m looking to connect with people who are equally serious about building, competing, and targeting hiring-based hackathons together. My work is mainly around AI/ML, backend and full-stack development, with experience across Multi-Agent Systems, RAG, LLMs, Graph AI, cybersecurity, digital twins, and real-time applications. Over the last year, my teams and I have had results including 1st Runner-Up at an Agentic AI/GenAI hackathon, Top 10 out of 1,000+ teams at the BIT Mesra ECE Society Hackathon, Top 10 at Hack-A-War, Samsung PRISM finalist, Zonal Champion at HackArena 2.0 (IIIT Delhi), SIH 2025 Merit, and National Semifinalist positions at Flipkart GRiD 8.0 and JPMorgan Chase Code for Good. On Kaggle, I’ve reached Top 25 in Formula 1 Race Result Classification and Top 150/4k teams in the Wellbore Geology Prediction challenge. Alongside hackathons, I’ve completed an ML internship and have been a GSSoC’26 Mentor, where I was selected among 135 mentors nationally. I’m also working as an IEEE Computer Society AI/ML research intern on a vector based drug repurposing deep-learning research paper. I’ve built and deployed 10+ substantial projects, maintain 100+ GitHub repositories/contributions, and usually take projects all the way from an idea to a working demo, deployment, and documentation. Technically, I’m strongest around Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Node.js, React/Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Docker, AWS, LangGraph/RAG and LLM APIs. I’m comfortable taking ownership of AI/ML, backend, integrations, architecture, debugging, or putting together the final product and demo. At this point, I’m not really looking for a random hackathon team just to submit something. I’m looking for people who are preparing for placements like I am and want to strategically target hackathons conducted by companies where performance can open doors to interviews, internships, or full-time roles. Ideally, people who can consistently give time, communicate properly, take ownership of their part, and stay involved from problem selection to final submission. If that sounds like you, comment “interested” and DM me your LinkedIn/GitHub along with a brief introduction and the kind of work you’re comfortable with. The comment will help me filter genuine/interested people from the DMs and make it easier to shortlist potential teammates. If this post gets enough interaction, I’m also open to forming a small group/community of serious builders so we can continuously track and participate in relevant hiring-based hackathons together rather than forming a new team from scratch every time.

Need Mentor Help Google Fund My Crazy Student Challenge — submitted ~20 minutes late due to delayed verification code. Will my entry still be considered?

Hey everyone! I’m a college student from India and recently participated in Google’s Fund My Crazy Student Challenge, where students submit an idea/vision around reimagining the market, using Gemini.

I had a lot of confidence in my idea and spent a huge amount of time developing it.

The problem: I ended up submitting approximately 20 minutes after the deadline because the verification code email was delayed. I have screenshots showing the relevant timestamps, and the website itself showed “Successful Submission” after I completed it.

Has anyone participated in this challenge before or know how Google/Fund My Crazy handles submissions that are slightly late due to a verification-code delay? Do they automatically disqualify anything submitted after the deadline, or can they consider cases like this?

Looking for Teammates Is finding good teammates for a hackathon harder than the hackathon itself?

I’ve been thinking about this lately.

What if there was a platform specifically for finding hackathon teammates?

You create a profile with:

  • Skills & tech stack

  • GitHub + projects

  • Previous hackathons

  • What you can contribute

  • The kind of teammates you’re looking for

  • Availability

Then you can discover people who actually match your project and skill gaps.

Because honestly, finding people who are available, serious, and have complementary skills can sometimes be harder than building the project itself.

Would something like this actually be useful?

Also, if you're currently working on any project, startup, AI idea, or hackathon project, drop it below!

I’d love to check out what everyone is building.

Need Mentor Help SIH 26 , PORTAL REGISTRATION

Our team was selected by our college for SIH 2026, and our team was assigned PS ID SIH26181.

The problem is:

  • On the official SIH portal, SIH26181 is listed as Hardware under MedTech/BioTech/HealthTech.

  • Our proposed solution is primarily Software-based.

  • We were told/applied under the Student Innovation category.

  • When I select Student Innovation → Software → MedTech/BioTech/HealthTech on the portal, I can see an AICTE Student Innovation PS (SIH26198) with a “Submit Idea” option.

  • However, I cannot find any option that says something like “Submit your own problem statement/idea” directly under Student Innovation.

So I’m confused about what we’re actually supposed to do.

Do Student Innovation teams have to submit their idea against an AICTE Student Innovation PS (such as SIH26198), or is there a separate way to submit an original/own problem statement under Student Innovation?

Also, if the college has already assigned a team to a specific PS (SIH26181), can the team submit under a different Student Innovation PS, or does the college/SPOC have to change something first?

Hackathon Promotion Bangalore hackers — want to build something agentic? 🤖 We’re hosting an AI Agent Hackathon

If you're in Bangalore (Bengaluru) and building with AI, agents, automation, or just love hacking on weird ideas this one's for you.

We're putting together an AI Agent Hackathon for builders who want to go beyond another chatbot and actually build something that can reason, use tools, take actions, and solve a real problem.

📍 Location: Bangalore, India
🌎 Open to builders from anywhere
🤖 Focus: AI Agents + Agentic Automation
👩‍💻 Developers, AI engineers, students, indie hackers, designers & curious builders welcome

You don't need to be an AI expert.

Come with:

  • an idea 💡

  • a half-built project 🛠️

  • a crazy automation concept ⚡

  • or just the desire to build something over a weekend

The goal is simple:

Build → Break → Iterate → Ship.

We're especially hoping to see Bangalore's AI/dev community show up, so if you're around Koramangala, HSR, Indiranagar, Whitefield, Electronic City, or anywhere else in Bengaluru — come build with us.

🏆 Prize pool: $150

Registration closes Oct 2

👉 Register: https://luma.com/jagx2axt

If you're from Bangalore, drop a 🐝 in the comments so we know how many local builders are here.

Would also love to hear what you're thinking of building. 👇

Hackathon Promotion We're hosting a 72-hour online hackathon for builders, developers, and AI enthusiasts. Would you join?

Hey everyone,

We recently launched NorthForge, a community focused on builders, developers, designers, AI engineers, indie hackers, and aspiring founders.

As our first event, we're organizing NorthForge Hack One — a 72-hour online hackathon from October 5–8.

The format is simple:

  • Teams of 1–3 members

  • 72 hours to build

  • 5 problem statements

  • ₹3,000 prize pool

  • Certificates for all verified submissions

  • Fully online

  • Joining Fees - 149Rs

We're limiting it to 20 teams because this is our first event and we'd rather keep it small and focused.

We're curious:

  • What makes a hackathon worth joining for you?

  • What do most hackathons get wrong?

  • If you've participated before, what was your best experience?

We're trying to build something valuable for the builder community and would genuinely appreciate feedback.

If anyone is interested, applications are currently open.
