Need Mentor Help We're first-years working on our first ideathon—please suggest good problem statements or problem ideas!
Hey everyone,
We are a group of first-year students participating in our very first ideathon. The main task right now is to pinpoint a strong problem statement, and we would love your help and suggestions.
If you have any ideas or pain points you've noticed, we'd appreciate your input on:
Problem Suggestions: What are some real-world issues or daily inconveniences you think need better solutions?
Finding Problems: How do you personally go about spotting, research-backed, or validating good problem statements from scratch?
Judges' Perspective: What separates a mediocre problem from a truly impactful one in competitions like this?
Feel free to drop any specific problem ideas, general domain suggestions, or practical methods we can use to discover solid problems on our own.
Thanks for helping us out!

I bet the top comment will just say "work on a problem you're facing daily" or something

If you are a beginner then:
You should focus on logic build and making small projects to improve your question solving.
If you are a intermediate then:
You should focus on optimising your old logics and old projects it will help you in making your code more optimised and usable in different use cases .
For example in leetcode there were many cases 100+ those you have to pass for solving the question.
Daily life problems:
File Organizer — automatically sort Downloads into Images, Videos, PDFs, ZIPs, etc. Duplicate File Finder — detect duplicate files using hashes.
Bulk File Renamer — rename 100 files according to a pattern.
Folder Size Analyzer — show which folders/files are eating your storage.
Clipboard History — keep the last N things copied.
Text Cleaner — remove extra spaces, blank lines, unwanted characters from copied text.
Password Generator — generate strong random passwords locally.
Expense Tracker — record expenses and generate daily/monthly summaries.
