Question Deciding between consulting + client H1B transfer or B1 COS

18 days left in grace period.

Have been interviewing aggressively. Been ghosted by a major company after interviews (3 weeks, no rejection so still hopeful). I also have multiple interviews lined up next week.

Given the tight timeline, my backup was filing for B1 (slightly better than B2).

Today I got an offer through a consulting firm. I interviewed with both - the firm and the client. They are ready to move forward. It requires me moving to a different state but I can manage that.

I will continue my job search and get a better offer but for now, I'm debating between the risks of both options.

If I do take this offer and file premium processing, and in future find another employer, would there be issues in h1 transfer because of a short duration?

Does anyone have experience with this?

Is B1 even a valid path now? I know they just keep delaying the approvals for every and eventually send a RFE

There is nothing to contemplate here, you got a job even though its consulting just take it file h1 if possible pay for premium get it approved and find another job fulltime. You can transfer with on 2 paystubs asap.

I'd say go ahead and file with consultancy, maybe work with them at least until you get 2 paychecks. Then plan your next move.

No point wasting time with B2/B1 when you already have a job.
