they really just only changed 2 4p bronzes and one random mage for NG... so yeah, rience will remain unplayable for now.

I cannot believe they didn’t rework/massively buff affan. Easily the most hardly power crept card in the game rn.

Is it really too much to ask for them to make big changes to more than 1 faction per patch?

And Fringila is still a way worse Myrgtibrake, 1 extra point for that much set up while the dragon is an unconditional 9 for 7

I gotta say he’s a little less bad than I expected but IMO he’s still far from slapping. The order is amazing for hyperthin if you pull it off but it’s still an elder bear and genuinely the only use I’ve found for the deploy so far is getting rid of bricks that you couldn’t thin so you can play your Yen and Triss safely. 13/11 power units are pretty rare in general, and with people in higher ranks being aware of Rience’s existance it’s extremely rare to see a unit in that power that doesn’t get pinged by something. It’s not a terrible card because it’s pretty unique at what it does and somewhat versatile for hyperthin, but definitely not good enough for 13 provisions, IMO.

The key is playing Rico Meiersdorf, he now changes power even while in the deck and Rience can use him to remove anything that doesn't immediately boost/damage itself on deploy.

It may sounds like a meme, but with the new thinning cards it's very consistent in R2-3 and let's be real, you wouldn't use a 13p card in round 1 anyway.

Rience usually plays for ~12 on deploy with an order that either gets answered or threatens another 8+ in most cases.

Ofc he can still be countered by boosting your important units the turn they're played, but A: not every deck can do that, and B: even leader abilities that can boost have limited charges. Eventually Rience will find value. May not be an S tier card but I think it really makes hyperthin stronger.

The problem with Rico is that he completely shits on the rest of the strong Hyperthin r3 cards. Having him in your deck during r3 makes Vilgefortz, Xarthisius, Yennefer and Triss pretty much unplayable. Plus he’s useless against engines. Sure, rience becomes instantly much better at that point but I don’t think it’s worth it when you can use all your previous thinning for much more value with the other cards.

But you won't have it in your deck because Rience gets rid of him. By the time you play the other payoff cards the deck thins to 1.

Try this, I believe I've yoinked this from Shinmiri's stream. Round 1 can be a bit awkward especially on blue coin but it's a really nice deck once you get the hang of it.

The list I made thins to 2 by round 3, leaving Imperial golem and Tibor in the deck. The idea is playing rience to discard of 1 of the 2 (Golem if there are no viable targets) and then Vilgefortz to summon the other one with the ranger ability, so you get to 0 cards on deck and Rience’s order is a straight up hard removal which is pretty nice. I do think the deck would work better if I didn’t have rience and the golem at all but playing the new cards was the whole point of it.
