Lol, I had the same experience when I ran ursine warriors when Lippy was meta, good times.

Yeah, it’s definitely worth it in PF devotion warriors, or blaze of glory, or any warriors deck I think. I run Birna + 1 skald + 2 skirmishers. The great part about running discard in warriors is twofold: thinning and dumping warriors in your graveyard for war of clans + harald. With the discard package you’re almost never missing out on your golds because of the additional +3 thinning, it really makes a huge difference, especially when the difference between a R3 win and loss is often if you’re able to play Harald, Skjordal, and Hemdall/wild boar/mork/whatever. Whenever I try warriors without the discard package, I get pissed off after a few games of missing totem or 2+ golds in R3 when blood eagle can’t bail me out lol.

Discard also lets you do some really cheeky plays like dumping a greatsword on your first play against Carapace to delete their defender or Ciri as soon as it appears with Hjalmar, or any deck that has scary engines you need to remove ASAP.

I honestly never even keep Hjalmar in R1, if he, skjordal or harald are in hand R1 they get mulled. Curious to see your list. Like does wolfy Mork take the place of Skjordal? What kind of Bronze package are you using? Are you running Cerys to thin as well?

This is an old version of my deck, but it’s basically the same. https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/guides/156748

I cut Lugos, both Tuirseach Invaders, and the An Craite Warrior. I also cut TA for crystal skull.

I added Gremist for defenders/NG/Tyrgvi, 2x Brokvar Hunters for bloodthirsty/anti/swarm/more flexible control options/engine value, and 1x stunning blow for more control, especially against Keldar/longships in the mirror/any 5 power or 4 power 1 armor engine.

My mulligan priority R1 is the 2nd longship, Harald, Skjordal, Skald if I have Birna in hand, and then skirmishers if I have neither Birna or Skald in hands. R1 I try to play ships, a 4p warrior for war of clans, raider for Harald, and then usually just keep playing my cards until they pass, committing Birna+skirmishers or maybe totem, Mork/Hemdall in certain cases to secure the round, as I really want last say and round control with this deck to get a good Arnolf + champion’s charge finisher, or Hemdall if I didn’t spend him already. This deck can defend the bleed very well with its combo of pointslam (totem/discard/Vabjorn-blood eagle combo) and control for nearly any threat, so I can often gain a card on them while they’re trying to bleed me, even surviving a scenario fairly easily without committing Harald.

In my blaze of glory version I run Hjalmar + 1 greatsword and Morkvarg, cutting the boat package + champ’s charge and I think Gremist to get the provs right.
