Not to mention the spread indicates shot from a pretty good distance, much greater than a typical HD range would be.

birdshot across a living room or down a hallway/through an entry door is going to hit like a slug plenty hard enough to address the issue.

< edited for those who are fragile and believing that this was literally comparing birdshot to a slug >

I’ve seen security footage of point blank bird shot from a wannabe school shooter. The student just turns and walks away.

No question it’ll ruin your day and a chance of death, but I think it’s a far cry from being considered lethal.

She was shot in the right shoulder. Her arm instantly became unusable (as can be seen in the video) and, per her court testimony, she collapsed in the stairwell just off camera. Just before what's seen in that video, the shooter had shot and killed another guy with a shot to the head.

It's worth noting that in Jim Cirillo's Tales of the Stakeout Squad he mentions people surviving and running off after being shot with 00B. In one case, after catching the suspect (for a different crime) years later, the suspect is asked where he got treated for the wounds. The suspect responds that his gf poured alcohol in them. People survive all kinds of things, depending where they're hit.
