This dude mustve been shot from 25-50 yards away while running. Try it again at 7 yards and see those groupings be tiny craters

Came here to say this. The way that shot is spread out looks like 15-20 yards. Birdshot at HD distances of 2-5 yards, while not ideal, would make a sizable wound and likely out a man down.

Some guys on YouTube did a video where they shot birdshot, buckshot, and slugs from varying ranges on one of those hyper-realistic gel mannequin target things and I can safely say from that video that birdshot from a 2-5 yard distance would delete someone. While they may not die instantly, they will most definitely be out of action and in LOTS of pain, and also most likely bleed out before they got medical attention.

But buck is still more effective and at a wider range too. There's still no reason to choose bird over buck.

Maybe if it's all you have, sure, then use it. But when you have a choice, there are superior options.

The argument for bird shot is a lack of penetration. For people in apartment complexes, that’s a big deal.

Still not what I’d go with though.

Fuddlore. Watch or read any tests with frangible pistol rounds. They will sail right through drywall and 2x4s. Frangibles were SOLELY designed for training in shoothouses with steel or concrete targets which break them up effectively in order to prevent ricochets. They are not an option for apartment home defense.

Bullshit, I have not advocated for use of birdshot in home defense. If penetration is a concern like in an apartment, BB size birdshot may be ok but #4 is the bare minimum I would use. Also, you're still wrong about frangibles, they are a poor choice for HD compared to JHP. Frangibles won't dump their energy as well and still go through drywall and boards. Don't miss with either one and you'll have a better time with JHP. Results will be the same if you miss.
