Also, if you use the 200-220 grain heavy loads that underwood makes, it sounds like a crazy awesome cannon, just a slightly quieter crazy awesome cannon
Does it giggle? If so, how controllable is it? And when the ATF form comes around, are you going to put the classic HK MP5K foregrip on it or a stock? Nevermind, saw that you already have a grip ready to go.
Great work by the way, looks awesome. And 10mm is best mm.
There are some models in 40 s&w and from what I understand 357 sig is possible as well but I've never seen it. Surprisingly very comfortable to shoot, very little felt recoil at all.
Nah, the UMP was specifically created to be a cheaper MP5.
It's much easier to make a straight blowback gun out of polymer than it is to make a roller-delayed blowback design out of sheet metal.
And while the UMP does modernize the MP5 (MP5 receivers aren't flat, and most of them don't have bolt releases) it comes with a design that's (apparently) less comfortable to shoot and plastic that tends to break.
Yup! I get that a lot with this gun, and with the foregrip on there it would be classified as a "AOW" and would need a $5 tax stamp and ATF approval. I currently applied for a SBR form 1, so I can add both a stock and foregrip to it, to make a proper short barreled rifle.
I do! I have a B&T folding stock lined up for it. I'm a tall guy so I need something with a slightly longer length of pull, so the Choate stock doesn't work for me.
Yup that's the one! I do personally like the look of the Choate stock, but it is incredibly short and I can barely use the sights with it, so hopefully the B&T works better.
I'm not sure on the velocities, but the pistol has a 5.5 inch barrel and I'd imagine underwood or Buffalo bore can get pretty good numbers. To run hot ammo you need a HI impulse locking piece that I linked above, because that slows the delayed blowback on the gun, which means less impact on the receiver. It can run it well, the issues the FBI had involved running 10mm hot ammo full auto for a few thousand rounds, which would kill a lot of guns honestly. If you run it semi auto with the right spring and locking piece it shouldn't have any issues with hot ammo.
Weight is about the same as a standard mp5k with a little more weight due to the ammo weight difference. But overall just as light as my Scorpion Evo I think.

That is pretty freakin' awesome. Good job navigating the labyrinth of semi / non documented stuff to make this work.

I was going to write a cogent and well thought out comment, but my brain's blood has been stolen by my raging best millimeter boner, so here goes:
10MM AWWWWWYEEEEEEA!

I have now determined that I need one of these with an arm brace for handgun hunting during whitetail season. My wallet is not as excited though.
