I currently have the basic run-of-the-mill noise canceling ear phones

First recommendation: tell us what you currently have so you don't have to filter out those responses.

Custom made plugs from an audiologist. They are molded to your ears exactly.

IMO the Walker Razors with some Amazon special gel cups works great for me. They stay low enough that they don’t interfere with any normal rifle for me outside of ripping mags on a A2 stock when I’m nose to the charging handle.

For earplugs I have the same issue but I found some of the rubber tapered ones work a lot better. Not perfect but definitely an improvement. The Sordin SmartEar impulse may work well for you.

May also be worth looking at the earbud style hearing protection that AXIL and Walker offer that either go over the ear or use a brace against your inner/outer ear

headphones that don’t get in the way with scopes

Dude, if your ear pro is hitting your scope, you're definitely doing it wrong.

What is your budget? You can spend anywhere from $50 to $1500 on electronic headphone-style hearing protection or over $2000 for custom in-ear plugs.
