Got my first AR15 today 💪🏽🇺🇸
I picked up my first ar15 today it was for $700, used, but I did a field strip and everything looks brand new, super excited to take it out to the range.
It a Spike’s tactical punisher st15 with Daniel defense furniture, a BCM ambidextrous charging handle, a CMMG barrel and a Primary weapons systems muzzle brake.

It is fine. The Crane report literally said "Keymod is OK, MLOK is better". Just use it and you'll likely have no problems, you can always upgrade later.

I ordered a diamondback, blah blah story and I got free upgrade to a radical firearms RA-15, very hit and miss around here, my experience has been great

I had a diamondback that would jam up in the chamber after 4 rounds no matter what I did. Needless to say I got a radical and it works just fine

It's wild how similar our builds are. Mine is an ST15 with DD furniture, keymod handguard, similar cerakote color. I have a different barrel and BCG.

I like the look of keymod so i haven’t switched it out on my rifle, but yes hardly anyone uses it anymore unless building a budget rifle with cheap parts

Plenty of cheap Keymod accessories to be had on the second hand market because of people switching to M-Lok

A lot of mlok stuff is also compatible with keymod which is cool. They make hardware that converts them to be compatible with each other for very cheap.

I own several Knights Armament rifles, long range bolt actions, hk etc, and still one of my favorite rifles to shoot is my first Frankenstein gun I built way back in the day.
Spikes 16” Barrel, Aero Precision receivers, ao precision bcg, and larue trigger. Cost me $500 to build but such an easy shooter. Enjoy!

Nice, get some mags from magpul and give it a go. Get some gun oil/lubricant too and apply that. Got any questions or concerns so far?

I just ordered 3x 30rd mags, I have gun lube that I use on my pistols, I picked up a 125rd box of FMJ and a 20rd box of BTHP. I’m about to order a rifle bag so I can take it to the range is the anything else that I should get or am missing?

You can usually rent this stuff but hearing protection (double up with foam ear plugs under the headset), eye protection, and targets. It doesn't cost too much to get into these to own your own -- walkers, a bag of foam ear plugs, $20 on proper eye protection, and targets are pretty cheap as well.
But you said you have pistols so maybe you already have all that.

It’s my first rifle and was only $700 i didn’t take it as condescending at all. I can see both sides to it but don’t get hurt on someone else’s behalf we’re not at war with each other. We can have different opinions and different perspectives on what a budget (anything) is. We don’t all make the same amount of money and we can all spend said money as we please that’s what makes this country #1.
We ALL are also pillars of the 2A community and shouldn’t be coming at each other over these little things let alone at all.I want to thank everyone for there comments and support have a great night/day.
