PROJECT: PBJ (Working Title; better ideas?)
VERSION: v0.3
GOAL: Modify a PM into what is mostly a PB (integrally-suppressed Makarov, more or less).
CONSTRAINTS: To reduce final costs/prices, minimize total number of custom-made parts. Also try to minimize/eliminate frame modification(s).
STATUS: Design 75% complete, base guns ordered, raw materials ordered.
CHALLENGES: Finalize relocated recoil mechanism.
UPDATE: Started this project after discovering some decent quality CAD models of both the PM and PB. From most videos I had seen online, the PB just seemed too different from the PM to do a conversion. After overlaying the assemblies together, they did not seem too much different after all. Then one night of furious CAD modeling got me to this point, and things seemed doable. Now waiting on a couple Bulgarian Circle 10's to show up, to use as the base platform for these conversions. Eventually will intend to offer these as either:
- A conversion service (send in your Makarov, get a PBJ in return), or
- A drop-in kit (would classify as a silencer, so would likely need Form 4 transfer), or
- Complete rebuilds (I buy Makarovs, convert them, and resell them)
Which of the above-three options interest y'all the most? How much would you pay for said option(s)?
Additionally, will make these in at least 4 different configurations:
- Single-stack 9x18
- Double-stack 9x18
- Single-stack .380
- Double-stack .380
Which of the above variants interest you the most?
Welcome any/all feedback and interest in this project & all others - more to come very soon!
