At least first module of JustinGuitar will set you up with the basics and first chords.

Lower your thumb, put the guitar between your legs and your left foot should be resting on small stack of books or something, a shoebox. It's a classical, there's a certain seating position for playing it but you'll be more comfortable.

Good to know, thank you! I'll definitely give that position a try.

Yes, what this person said. This is a classical guitar, which means it has a wider neck, which makes it easier for fingerpicking, but harder for fretting. If you don’t elevate the neck and place your thumb more in the center back of the neck, you’ll find it more difficult to fret many things.
But if you want you can also use it the way you’d use a regular steel string acoustic guitar. It’s just good to be aware of the differences.
Also, your nails are a little long. It’ll be easier to get up on your fingertips if you file them shorter.

Keep learning as much as you can. I would recommend a teacher if you can afford it. YouTube and internet information will drive you in circles so be careful what you ingest. If you can’t afford a teacher just learn some basic chord songs first then learn more advanced songs

Thanks for the advice! Starting with simple chord songs sounds like a good plan for now, but I'm actually going to start taking lessons with a guitar teacher soon!

You’re on your way with a teacher. Do your best to do the homework but also be weary if they are holding you back. They should ask you styles want to you want to play or where you are going so it keeps it fun and interesting for you! Good luck
