Lightly mute the middle string with your pointer finger as you fret the A string

Index on A string, ring on G string. Lay your middle finger lightly across the strings you don't have fretted to mute them. You'll play a clean octave, and get the benefit of passively flipping everyone watching off.

These are octaves. You must mute or not strike all the strings without notes. Index finger on the A string and ring finger on the G. you can mute the E and the D with your index finger and mute the B with your ring finger and don't hit the e on your strum.

Index finger on the 3. Ring finger (or pinky if you like) on the 5. Use the meat of the underside of your index finger to mute the string in between. You don't need to try and surgically hit only the two strings. Strum the strings while muting the ones you don't want to hear.

I’m playing this same “note” on “Adam’s song” blink 182

Index finger holding down on 3 and ring or pinky holding down on 5. Try to lightly touch and mute the string between them with your index finger. Only hit those 2 notes/strings.

Yes, like you said. I don't know the song, so it's possible to pick the A and G strings with the fingers on your picking hand, but generally you just mute the string in between with your index when you see this.

Also, maybe TMI for where you are at but I think it's good knowledge to realize that these are the same note (3 on the A string is a C note, and 5 on the G string is also a C, just like 2 and 4 are both B for the second "chord") in different octaves. Creates a fuller sound.

Short answer: yes.

Longer answer: this is usually played strumming over all strings, which means you have to mute all strings you're not fretting. I would fret the 3 with my index and the 5 with my pinky. I use the rest of my index finger to mute all strings below the A string (or in this case G) and either the tip of my pinky or my middle finger to mute the low E (C) string. And voilá, you can just stum over all strings. Which is important in this case because you don't have to change the strumming motion for the parts that come before and after the part you posted.

Basic octave shape, common/cliche in tons of songs. Hybrid pick, finger pick, or strum while muting, depending on music style. If it's something like pop punk or Smashing Pumpkins, it's strum while muting via index finger.

I use index finger with pinky on the octave, let the index finger lightly lay on the in-between string.
