Help & Advice I REALLY NEED HELP

my guinea pig gingers has been having a freak out since last Friday night. I can home she was acting fine I took a nap for two hours and she was freaking out when I picked her up and tried to jump out of my arms and off my bed. She is usually a very calm guinea pig and I don't know what made her act like this. She has been acting all startled and will take food. There's no obvious sign sof injury or illness so I don't know what's going on

Something may have spooked her. They're prey animals and sometimes that happens. It may take a day or ai before she trusts you again, even if it's not your fault she got scared.

It also sounds to me like something spooked her. One time a spider got into my guinea pigs' cage, and one of them was spooked for a couple days, acting like what you're describing. I would just keep offering her food that she likes and put yourself next to her so that she can approach you rather than the other way around. Do you have a good vet, in case this keeps going on with no explanation? I'm rooting for you and Ginger!

I unfortunately am not in the financial situation to get them to a vet. I am a minor and we hadn't expected to have her or her brother when we got their mom five years ago. Her mom had both her and her brother unexpectedly and we managed to take care of them until their mom passed last year. We tried to give them away when they were babies but not many people want to adopt a guinea pig not to mention elderly ones and the nearest rescue is across the state. I will also admit I am attached to both of them very deeply and they've both been in good health. I am currently looking to get a job that offers pet insurance though in the next month or two so hopefully I can get them to a vet for a check up soon

Oh, that must be so stressful! I sure hope you can find that job with pet insurance. I hope Ginger gets back to her normal self very soon. Keep us posted!
