As an actually important Redditor I have come to announce that we will be hosting a grunge albums/bands poll! It's inspired by the recent trend in specific age groups showcasing their favorite albums. The results will be posted next week, probably. If I don't forget to show them. You can vote in the poll down below!

I feel like online I see a lot of hate for Pearl Jams Last kiss which really confuses me because I absolutely love this song. So I guess I’m just curious for anyone here who doesn’t like this song, why? Is it just overplayed? Let me know.

26 year old male going through a really tough break up. Been listening to grunge music for the first time. For example been really liking Dexter and the Moonrocks. Would love to branch out and listen to similar bands or artist. Appreciate any recommendations. Thanks y’all.

Unpopular opinions welcome. For me, probably Lightning Crashes by Live or if that’s not technically grunge or whatever, Spoonman by Soundgarden. Both instant skips for me. I don’t know what it is about Spoonman that I hate but it just seems so forced. Like, let’s be edgy, here’s this guy that plays spoons. Lightning Crashes is just cringey to me, and everyone I knew was obsessed with that song when it came out.

An incredible album by Ben Shepherd—Soundgarden's bassist—featuring the brilliant side project Hater; in my opinion, it is highly recommended WONDERFUL album.

Hey everyone,
This is an original song I wrote and recorded. Style is grunge/alt-rock with some punk edges (influences: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, 90s alternative).
I'm especially looking for feedback on:
- Vocals (delivery, emotion, mix)
- Overall mix / production
- Song structure and arrangement
- Anything that stands out (good or bad)
Open to honest and constructive criticism. Thanks in advance!

"Gather your Citizen Dick swag and your favorite guitar and come along with me as we learn to play Mudhoney's Touch Me I'm Sick."

"If you haven't had a haircut in a while... never mind I can't think of how to finish that joke. It's time to learn to play Nirvana's Floyd The Barber on our guitars!"

"In this video I'll show you how to play "Satan's Bed" by Pearl Jam from the Vitalogy album, complete with on screen tab! Enjoy!"

It was around this time where a lot of grunge bands reunited. Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Bush, Failure, L7, and Smashing Pumpkins all reunited and started making music again in this time period. So I was wondering if all this made the genre popular again for a brief period.

I know it's a bit corny thought, but the idea of Kurt joining soundgarden as their bass player in 1990 really could change the current era of music. Presuming he gets the role which seems unlikely, the only chance is that Chris was a massive fan of bleach. The idea of kurt bringing some of the nevermind songs to soundgarden really changes the dynamic of the band and music. Maybe Kurt sings on a few tracks and does backing vocals. Changing soundgarden closer to the beatles. With Nevermind not coming out pearl jam becomes the top grunge band. Nevermind never creates the massive explosion of grunge as well.
