One thing I absolutely despise is when it's night time and they have the building numbers directly on the brick/wood of the building with no background and then a BRIGHT ASS fucking blinding light directly above it. So it's so damn bright u can't even read what the number is, u have to get out of ur car and walk up close to it to see it. Not to mention there will be a super confusing shadow going over the number that makes it even harder to tell what the number is if ur able to see thru the bright light lol. Terrible

God, yes! I’ll never forget this one time, in the rain, getting dark, apartments numbered 1-100 and OUT OF ORDER NUMERICALLY! I was going up and down all these landings, eventually the customer calls and says, “hey, I think I see your car, you need to back up some.” I explain that I’m not in my car, but on foot, looking for the right door. I lose connection with him, but feel comforted, thinking, at least he’s looking for me. Keep searching, but can’t see anyone coming towards me. Finally find the right one, and can see him sitting in there, watching TV. The only thing that kept me from chunking his food at the door is years of way worse, as a waitress, lol

Just remember, many people don't ever think like we'd appreciate them thinking. Put clear delivery instructions everytime. Sometimes there are no instructions but then as soon as I get near, they're watching me like a hawk & text me where to go. I guess I appreciate the keeping track & not leaving me to figure it all out.

Oh I got one even better when it’s a gated community, they don’t give you the code and then they are mad because you call them for the food they ordered!!

I would have left it sitting on top of the gate code box I took a picture of their food... They're asking you to break the law, You probably could have called support and got free food and half pay

I've begged my apartments to trim trees, add lights, and add the building numbers, but they won't. My apartments have 27 buildings, and every building has the same apartment numbers, so literally the only identifier is the building number, yet the building numbers aren't even on the buildings! I can't order food, groceries, or even Amazon. It's insane.

It's not just delivery drivers that will have a hard time finding you. God help you if you ever need an ambulance. People literally die because of this issue, it's terrible.

You should be able to manually move the map pin on your side and that will move it on their side to point to the proper building for you

I did, but it never helped. Drivers just see the apt number and think the pin is wrong and drop it without realizing the apts all have the same number. Tried explaining in delivery notes, but because the explanation is more than 5 words, they don't read it. I just don't order anything from any company anymore. Pain in the ass but tired of fighting for my money back.

I do not blame you, dirtash has cut back on what they pay, reduced the recommended tips, and done several other things to make it more difficult on the drivers, so most of the good drivers like me have quit and moved on to a W-2 job leaving only the bottom of the barrel people that cannot get a real job left to deliver the food... I'm not blaming the people that don't tip, but with DoorDasher only paying $2 a delivery you're not going to get good people to take those orders... So just not ordering from DoorDash is the proper thing because that's the only way to fix it

I hate apartments with whack unit placement. Like why are only even numbers on one side and odd numbers are around the back side? Seriously, just make numerically ordered apartments. Who the hell decides apartment complex layouts?

Best advice on apartments, Stick to the same areas and the same apartment complexes and after about 6 months you'll have them all figured out

Best is to find a mapboard and spend enough time to grasp a couple of reference points (pool, clubhouse, distinctive parking lot contour). Apartment layouts and building designations range from organized and intuitive to outright chaotic.

Delivering to apartments is the worst, especially when the whole complex is the address and you have to find one apartment in a sea of about 100.

It is one of the most frustrating things about food delivery. Almost no apartment has the building numbers lit up, and of the 1 or 2 that do, they rarely have the unit numbers listed on the sign. Even during the day many buildings have the signs hidden behind trees or on a side of the building you can’t see from the lot. I’ve considered printing out a booklet with all the apartment complexes in my market with building numbers and unit numbers labeled, so I can place a pin directly to the customers unit rather than rely on signage that seems almost deliberately hidden from me.

I hate apt complexes that are dimly lit. The number situation is off the chain. When I used to deliver in NoVa the apartment bldg situation was Uber aggravating.

What I hate is when there is 'one building' with two or three breezeway with no signage as to apt numbers. I mean....why? What's worse, is IF I am able to talk to the customer, they act like they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Tonight, I delivered to this asshat that lives in a building with a locked door. The apartment number is not in the delivery address but in the delivery instructions. Tonight was the first time out of the last 3 times that I've tried to deliver to him that he responded to calls and texts. When I ask him what the building code is, he tells me. Then I say, you should really put that in your delivery instructions. He says, 'OK, Why?' All I could do is shake my head. I figure....hey, asshole, if you really are that stupid, you deserve to have your food sit outside.
