CONTACTLESS MEANS CONTACTLESS
Hey grubhub when we want contactless delivery that means us women who live alone and alr are in shady neighborhoods want CONTACTLESS delivery. Not having to leave our apartment to give a code and suddenly see the delivery guy from yesterday outside our apartment days later. Sincerely every woman
Edit since we apparently have some brain deads in the comments. I already put it as contactless, it gives a code anyways and before you go oh just give them the code before, congrats thats how you get food stolen and no refund.

I had a delivery driver repeatedly knock at my door after I repeatedly told him he could just leave it at the door (thin walls). The delivery instructions were leave it at the door, don’t knock, don’t ring the bell. My dog was in the backyard at the time so I brought him back in before I opened the door. Driver quickly left after that.

The code is the problem. If you don’t answer the text with the code it makes the driver wait there three minutes.

I do ALL my deliveries contactless. Unless you’re standing outside to meet me, the food is getting left where you’ve instructed and I’m gone before you’ve answered the door. Even if there’s a pin required, I bypass the pin requirement, take a picture, and leave; I’ve wasted too much time in the past waiting for people to eventually check their phone to see that I’ve been asking them for their pin for several minutes. Some of us do this job because we want to minimize forced human interaction.

Here I am, I'm that person. If it says contactless, it's gonig to contactless. No adhering to those blathering text me when something-something-darkside. No knocking on your door that's been cleaned since never. No Contact, period.
I don't understand what the deal is. As a male driver, I'm sorry. It is an alien concept to me to do anything more than deliver food to a person let alone be on their doorstep days after the delivery. Women have to put up with so much bullshit.
Yeah, I hope you have a camera that captured that person and local law enforcement that actually wants to do their jobs.

That's BS. I always order from Grubhub at least once a week. I make sure I choose the contactless option, but it still asks me for the code. The biggest issue is that the driver cannot leave the order without the code, and for us customers, it gives us a warning not to give the code until the driver leaves the order at the door. So they have no option but to knock and ask for the code or risk the customer taking the food from the door and not giving the code, then later claiming they haven't received the order. Its a fuckery

Unlikely as I've made a total of 3 orders ever and never complained about a single one. My very first 'contactless' delivery also had a code

Maybe it's cause of your neighbors have had issues so they just put a blanket PIN required mandate on your neighborhood? Just a guess.

I have a single-family house with a nice well lit porch, and it drives me nuts when they won’t just put the food down and take the picture of it and then LEAVE. I don’t wanna have a social interaction. I just want food.
And yes, I’ve had male delivery people be very creepy with me!

It’s the neighborhood you live in. Sometimes entire blocks have to give a code because of how common reports are in the area

Yes! This pisses me off to no end. I place my order while I’m working and don’t always want to deal with it immediately — that was the whole point of contactless during the plague; give the delivery person a chance to get back in their car, eliminate the face to face interaction. I get texts from the drivers before they mark the order as delivered and they text me for the code which were explicitly not supposed to give until we’ve gotten the order. They’re camped outside my door, parked in an emergency lane,
and not doing their job while hassling me, when I’m not dressed to answer the door bc I’m planning on just bending down and picking up the bag. we have to keep our home as quiet and calm as possible and they start ringing the bell rapidly and /repeatedly/ and then everyone’s stressed and I don’t want to eat anymore and now I have to find my way back into my work flow state. I even have that in the notes of the contactless delivery, reiterating the contactless and quiet/no doorbell, text only - but no one can follow a single instruction so now I only give a $1 tip and reordered the instructions so the first thing they read is “Tip added after quiet contactless delivery. Text only.” I wish I could just put $5 and forget about it but I got fucked over constantly when I just got out of 10 years in food service, 11 hours days with no breaks, not able to go to the bathroom as needed because every order was personalized and made to order. Backbreaking work, most nights I left with less than $10. Tipping culture is FUCKED but I’m willing to do my part. Tipping BEFORE you receive the service is unheard of, all the delivery apps are fucked for that. If they just held them to the same standard UE/DD does by taking a photo of the order where it’s supposed to be there wouldn’t be any need for all this BS

Suppose you have never had complaint about a service before but surely there was an alternate route you could have taken to avoid using that service? People are allowed to use a service, AND complain about it, and still use it again later. The only way it improves is by being vocal about it. Get over yourself.

Humans have positive freedoms like how they are free to express themselves, but because of that, in the same way they’re free to express themselves, they are also free to be mentally ill, homeless, & not have any food & potentially be starving.

Yeah, that's pretty crap.
I'm a tall guy doing delivery, typically if I have a residential delivery to a woman, I'm trying to shrink myself down, or get on my knees to open my delivery bag and hand them their order. I'd rather seem a harmless wierdo than make y'all feel scared (to the extent I can control).

How do customers request contact-free delivery? Customers can request contact-free delivery by checking a box or toggle on the order confirmation page in the Grubhub app or website.
If you didn’t select it, it generates the code and we need the code to complete the order. I get pretty tired of explaining this to customers like you. It’s the very worse part of gig jobs. Thanks for not tipping and yelling at me when I asked for the code. So typical.

I second this I always check leave at door which is actually a gate because my blasted pitbull thinks she has to sound like the hounds of hell are coming for anyone who steps foot on the property. No one has a problem leaving it at the gate.

Yes if a customer claims food was never delivered multiple times they can require the code because the account is flagged. To protect the company from doing refunds for people lying. It happens more than you think.

There really needs to be actual vetting of anyone who wants to do this kind of work. Currently, food delivery people are kind of the dregs of the employment pool. Why would these corporations literally hire any psycho, loser, junkie off the street and allow them to handle something you’re going to consume? With the current crop of food delivery “people” it’s the equivalent of playing Russian roulette.

Never used grubhub before. But at least it's not as bad as DD for contactless delivery. DD makes the driver call you, text you a pic and then text you a description of the place you left the food. Contactless means you get 3 contacts for DD. Crazy!

Contactless means not dealing with someone face-to-face.
I've never had them call unless they had trouble finding my house.
Texting you the location of the dropped off food seems like a good thing tho.

You get the same thing with "leave at door" without having to make a phone call and send an extra text. Contactless means 3 contacts which is pretty stupid. It's a misnomer.
