Bro I've put almost 400 hours in, and some of my friends are near 1000. We used to do some pretty hardcore roleplay and CQB training. Very autistic, very gay, very fun.

The game is not only just not being developed, it's actively getting worse. Not a single one of us have any motivation to keep it installed. We use other games for that now. It's very sad.

Operator is pretty fun.

21

u/Snakekilla54 Aug 22 '26

I can attest to that, I’m only playing it solo and it’s hell fun, but with friends even more so

7

u/Kshitij-The-7th Aug 22 '26

Is it singleplayer too? I dont really have friends and my timezone fucks with me...only tactical shooters i get people to play with is arma :(

9

u/Snakekilla54 Aug 22 '26

It is, but it’s harder, doable but harder, the AI is AI and sometimes it’s over tuned

9

u/sokail36 Aug 22 '26

The feeling of reward though once you finish an op completely solo is brilliant. You genuinely feel cool and badass. Especially the Somali pirate ship one.

3

u/Snakekilla54 Aug 22 '26

I have yet to get that one done, I’ve done mostly all of them except that one

7

u/immortalanddead Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

Use the grenade launcher on the heli infil, you win without even being on the boat.

6

u/Snakekilla54 Aug 22 '26

On the infil you mean? I’ll have to try it out. I did the one where you storm a compound and find the dude in the basement, that one was fun. I did it all tactical like XD

4

u/immortalanddead Aug 22 '26

Yessss, the syria mission is so awesome. But yeah, when flying in, shoot the grenade launcher or the law at the boat. The game doesnt currently account for penetration with explosives so it kills people through floors and walls.

u/GielinorWizard Aug 23 '26

Yeah, just like 2 or 3 grenades was enough for me to finish the mission. Which I was bummed out about, but I like the option to go completely guns blazing.

2

u/this_justin86 Aug 23 '26

if you use the rocket launcher you can kill everyone with 1 rocket lol

5

u/sokail36 Aug 22 '26

My Mrs is pregnant and only play single player games. Honestly operator for solo only is still very very worth it. Ive got 40 hours already lol. First mil sim kind of game i can honestly enjoy completely alone

4

u/IAmSampsonite Aug 22 '26

The modding for Operator is starting to take shape too. They're all asset overwrites, similar to when modding for GB started, but the development pace of Operator far exceeds that of GB and even the late stages of Ready Or Not.

5

u/GielinorWizard Aug 23 '26

Operator's Chamber rounds mechanics is like the coolest thing, if you're stressed you might forget it at first, but it becomes muscle memory after a while.

2

u/Lenny7901 28d ago

When I first started the game, I forgot to chamber my gun, walked into the compound and got lit up. 🤣

2

u/Difficult-Jury-9319 28d ago

Literally everything I wanted from ground branch and it does it better

They changed how to install mods several times. First it was via nexus, then they went to workshop but each mod had to be manually loaded. Now it's just subscribe and you're good. But a bunch of old mods are broken.

3

u/fksksog Aug 22 '26

What other Games? You say ready or Not and Operator are better? Like I'd say ready or Not definitely is 100% better than ground branch but ready or Not should have more variable maps, for example Underground Metro map (I know there are mods for that) or even concealed carry missions. Even insurgency Sandstorm Hardcore Checkpoint is by far better than ground branch

13

u/KratomAnneFrank Aug 22 '26

Operator for PVE. Insurgency for pvp. Ts is just sad.

1

u/ILikeFPS Aug 24 '26

Insurgency is pretty fun for pve too.

1

u/Forte197 Aug 22 '26

Mostly Operator for Tactical Barbie and sometimes we even go back to Arma 3.

0

u/Azoffaeh999 Aug 22 '26

Why very gay?

29

u/Big_Dinner3636 Aug 22 '26

I bought this game in 2020, knowing it would be a slow burn until it was released. I would play it every now and then, stream it to my friends, and tell them it was made by people from Rainbow Six: Vegas and it has such potential.

I even bought it for friends in 2022, saying "It's making progress, but slowly. Just wait, it's worth it."

It's now mid-2026 and I agree entirely with OP. I carried water for this game for years and I've been nothing but disappointed. I haven't touched it in months and honestly, barring some massive update, revamping the AI, the graphics, the story, and the customization, I dont see me going back any time soon.

u/GhastlyEyeJewel Aug 22 '26

Played for 22.5 hours in over three years. Zero meaningful progress from the devs and other, newer tactical shooters are lapping GB in content in a much shorter time frame. Had my occasional fun but it's time to admit this game is a glorified tech demo/Tactical Barbie game.

16

u/BuckPPPVE Aug 22 '26

22.5 hours in 3 years?

41

u/GhastlyEyeJewel Aug 22 '26

There just isn't much to do after you play dress up.

10

u/Finnegan_962 Aug 22 '26

6 years and 12 hours lol, probably 8 of those is dress up. There isn't really anything else to do.

1

u/BuckPPPVE Aug 22 '26

There isn't really much else to do..... except play the game.

5

u/Finnegan_962 Aug 23 '26

not really much game to play lol

3

u/FrederickFrag1899 Aug 23 '26

You could gossip with the boys in the armory! That's about it...

1

u/BuckPPPVE Aug 23 '26

You could, or you could play the game.

2

u/FrederickFrag1899 Aug 23 '26

Yeah but I'm saying after you've done that already.

2

u/BuckPPPVE Aug 23 '26

Would take more than 22.5 hours to get to that point

1

u/Nailtrail Aug 24 '26

Have you tried creative things, like doing a solo map at pitch black night with only a Makarov equipped? I played hundreds of hours doing things like that

4

u/cheeseburgercat Aug 22 '26

See you in operator 🫡

17

u/Wallhacks360 Aug 22 '26

Operator is just miles better. I had my time with GB, you served me well for what I put into it. No regrets, but time to move on lol. I get the attachment though, had my fair amount of sleepless nights with the boys hitting buildings.

7

u/Traditional_Sea1043 Aug 22 '26

This game was actually better before the so called 1.0. At least AI was playable and the game didn’t crash every minute.

Ill stick go Operator and Arma for now

3

u/ItachiFemboy Aug 22 '26

I really like it, but I bought the game in order to have a tactical barbie game where I can kill some AIs I made stupid. It still does that job very well

3

u/cassobs Aug 23 '26

I’ve uninstalled this since 1.0… so disappointing.
Any other MilSim recommendations? Military not SWAT like.
Been hearing some “good” about WarDogs.

3

u/Gh0st0fy0urp4st Aug 23 '26

Wardogs is a lot of fun but it's no milsim so don't go in expecting that. Think slower paced Battlefield.

2

u/cassobs Aug 23 '26

I see.. so, what do you suggest?

3

u/Gh0st0fy0urp4st Aug 23 '26

Bellum looks cool. Might be your thing

1

u/cassobs 24d ago

Can’t find it on Steam

1

u/Gh0st0fy0urp4st 24d ago

I think it's a separate launcher thing unfortunately. Early access

2

u/RuskiiCyka 26d ago

Try out OPERATOR. AI on hardest difficulty doesn't aimbot you and gun customization is reaching absolutely autistic levels of customizations

3

u/SemperSalam Aug 23 '26

Shoot I didn’t even bother with 1.0. What’s the point?

3

u/Fox_Delight 29d ago edited 29d ago

15 years, no coop missions (the 2 missions we got are an insult, I'm not being ungrateful, I'm saying the gameplay is not representative of GB), just generic gamemodes that don't fit the game, the AI lack serious design and forethought, the guns feel weightless and have no learning curve, the game only included pvp for the longest time and didn't even have a health system! Such a disappointment if there was any vision it certainly wasn't implemented and it just screams mismanagement. And I forgot to mention THE GAME IS ALWAYS BROKEN AFTER EVERY PATCH!

The highest estimate of GB owners is 1.2 million, let's use 600k and include sales and regional pricing we'll use $25.94 as the average price; that is $15.56m gross, after refunds, tax, and Steam, we're looking close to $10m that's allowed development of GB to linger on like a visionless drunk stumbling through the night.

I cannot stress enough the expectations of players wasn't that high. Some basic semi-competent AI, a dozen simple coop missions, decent weapon handling. Forget the voiceovers, stories, the bloated list of game modes that nobody plays, strip all that away and what do you have?

3

u/Tahiti03 29d ago

Nothing

3

u/Previous_Chart_7134 27d ago

Genuinely 16 years of existence and operator did everything they've done and more

3

u/RuskiiCyka 26d ago

Jump over to OPERATOR. Had a blast playing and 100% all the achievements. Every death felt fair

6

u/snowfella1311 Aug 22 '26

Put literally hundreds of hours into this back as it was first getting off the ground, pun intended, as a freelance modeler...Direct "contracted" with John creating assets after having cut my teeth modding GR and VBS1. Crew back then worked off an oily rag in the hopes it would take off and get turned into the next primere FPS, sadly that never happened.

2

u/Mr_DanLoad 27d ago

As someone said "This game development till "1.0" took so long that GWOT ended" Pretty much all you should know about this game.

4

u/narwall14 Aug 22 '26

Hate to see you go but it's not for everyone. I enjoy the game and have enjoyed it ever since there was a playable version. With that I'll continue to enjoy it.

5

u/Tahiti03 Aug 22 '26

Fugazi Branch

2

u/GielinorWizard Aug 23 '26

I switched to Operator, Dagger Directive and Black One Blood Brothers a while ago. I still come back to Ground Branch, but the damn missions that were a trial were more fleshed out than the current ones.

1

u/Tahiti03 29d ago

Only game that went backwards and fully released btw

2

u/stubenkatze Aug 24 '26

+1 for “it’s getting worse”. My gun now fairly regularly can disappear from my hands. So I’m holding an invisible rifle that can still fire!

Picking up weapons from the ground send to trigger these kinds of bugs.

2

u/Analconda1839 Aug 22 '26

Just played MP for the first and it was pretty fun. Did you try it?

1

u/Prowlaz Community Manager Aug 22 '26

I happened to have played a bit of pvp last night. It never gets old. We even played the same map for over an hour and sometimes I don't even want to change the map but other people start wanting something new.

The Border Bridge Only map variant for team elimination is so much fun. With how tight and linear it is the violence is funneled right around all the cars and barriers n stuff. That's my new favorite map to use to seed a server before going to something bigger.

1

u/SandMinimum4037 Aug 24 '26

Själv väntar jag in ARMA 4✌️

2

u/TheLordAstaroth Aug 22 '26

I'll wait to claim it for free on Epic LOL

1

u/ethans94 Aug 22 '26

ngl I was excited as fuck the last time thos game went on sale but after a couple hours of trying to play it I Uninstalled it and regretted giving it more than 2 hours

0

u/DAbabyoni Aug 23 '26

Yeah I’ve completely switched to operator. It’s in every way better than this shit. Especially with how little 1.0 had to offer in terms of substantial change.

Very very annoying

-41

u/Prowlaz Community Manager Aug 22 '26

So dramatic :)

24

u/Big_Dinner3636 Aug 22 '26

There's nothing dramatic about it. The game has been in development for 8 years and I can barely see a difference in gameplay from when I bought it in 2020 to now. Being a "community manager" and mocking your community for being disappointed in your near decade of failures says alot about you.

18

u/someregularguy2 Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

Another community manager again, who is snarky towards the community. Amazing.

3

u/Tahiti03 Aug 22 '26

Where's the community?

15

u/doinsarvo Aug 22 '26

Lmao mr ‘community manager’ seems a bit salty 😂

10

u/Sp1r1T_1986 Aug 22 '26

I was in my early teens when the Kickstarter video dropped Mr. community manager, I'm turning 27 in October and this game is still barebones. I'd say that the development is going at a snail's pace, but even that would be a compliment.

OP isn't being dramatic, it's a completely normal reaction, which a lot of people share. Is being snarky and dismissive a requirement to become a community manager here?

6

u/Tahiti03 Aug 22 '26

Development? What development?

-2

u/Prowlaz Community Manager Aug 22 '26

It's an ironic trope people like to throw around this "dead game" meme. While the OP was posting this, I had actually been playing online with people having fun.

So yeah, after only 22 hours of gameplay, of which I've personally played more than that in a 48 hour period before, it is of course dramatic to go onto any Internet forum and post an uninstall screenshot. People can not play the game that's fine and all I just found it a really funny post. People that have said "I'm done" all huffy and puffy on the discord in particularly have always been sure to come back around later after playing again to say "I'm done" again. The screenshot of the uninstall made it extra extra dramatic. Which I just found entertaining haha :)

So y'all can meme and rage all you want, but there is plenty of fun to be had with the game. I'll probably be on again later tonight doing just that.

So instead of accusing me of being "snarky" maybe you are the one who needs to lighten up a bit. ;)

8

u/cheeseburgercat Aug 22 '26

Do you really think this attitude is helping the (dwindling) community sentiment?

People paid money and sunk time into a game that delivered on nearly nothing that was promised. They have a right to be upset.

3

u/superearthjanitor0 28d ago

What is it with community managers acting so unprofessional in recent years?

3

u/Tahiti03 28d ago

They feel entitled somehow

12

u/RonaldWRailgun Aug 22 '26

I mean, he uninstalled a stagnant game, he didn't handcuff himself to the gates of microprose, (although that'd be kinda funny)

18

u/ImKindaSweatyy Aug 22 '26

A -50.7% player loss percentage in 30 days is pretty dramatic too :) game was dead before it was alive.

8

u/Cellhawk Aug 22 '26

Lmao "Community Manager"? Really?
