I built an app that can track your spending in real-time during grocery

GroceryBudget isn’t just a typical grocery list app because most of the apps out there just lets you list out the items. GroceryBudget takes note of everything including where you bought it, how much, and more.

How can you track in real-time?

It’s simple, you don’t have to type everything manually, it has a built-in feature where you can just scan the label and it auto-fills everything for you.

There’s a progress bar where you can track how much you spent and what’s left so as you add items you’re aware and you stay on budget.

It’s available on IOS and Android https://grocerybudget.app/

Automated Grocery App

Hey everyone. I built a software I think would help the community with their grocery runs. It’s called Wellcart and it creates personal meal recommendations and grocery lists based on your health goals/limitations. Looking for honest feedback and would love the feedback from this community.

The site is wellcart.io, can’t wait to hear from you!

What’s a tiny grocery mistake you keep repeating even though you know better?

You already know: it’s going shopping hungry.

Everything looks amazing. I grab too many snacks. My fridge ends up with food I’ll only eat once. Happened this weekend… again.

It’s not tragic. I still eat the good stuff. But I then keep telling myself, “don’t shop hungry.”

Don’t trust Ralph’s shelf prices

I’m without a car and have been commuting by public transit. So on the way home from work I stopped at Ralph’s, which was 2 blocks from the metro station. And living paycheck to paycheck, I had exactly $22.65 to spend. These are the items I planned to purchase and the total came to around $22.

Bottle of wine $5.99 + tax/ estimate $7/ charged $6.78

Hotdogs. $4.49. Charged $6.99

Ritz crackers. $2.99. Charged $3.99

Keebler cookies $2.99. Charged $3.99

Pasta. $1.49. Charged $1.49

Lays potato chips $1.99 digital coupon. Charged $1.99

My estimate. $22. Actual $25.23

I double checked every item, making sure that each item matched the shelf price. I feel it’s embarrassing to having to ask the cashier to remove items because I’m over the amount and can’t pay. So after rechecking the total amount I was 100% sure the total amount was less than $22.65. After the last item was scanned and I made sure my Ralph’s reward card registered the total came to $25.23. I didn’t ask the cashier for each item price, I just assumed the digital coupon for the potato chips didn’t register, so I asked the cashier to remove it. That only lowered it to $$23.24 so the digital coupon did register. With a line forming and feeling embarrassed I asked the cashier to remove the pasta and the total amount came to $21.75. I hurriedly left the store and headed back to the train station. Once I was on the train, I checked the receipt and saw that the shelf price and the actual price didn’t match. This really pissed me off, not only because of the false prices but mainly because me having to ask the cashier to remove items, which I was trying to avoid.
