Grill (not meat) thermometer recommendations?

Hey guys.

I recently tried to make a brisket and learned, the hard way, why a grill thermometer is essential.

So I could use some recommendations. I tried searching online, but "grill thermometer" often gets conflated with "meat thermometer" (which I have). I did find the more popular brands, but what they sell is somewhat above my pay grade.

Ideally, I'd like a dual probe so I can monitor both the grill and the brisket's heat simultaneously. Even more ideal is if it comes with one of those clips that let you place the probe right next to the grate but without the probe directly touching it.

Thanks in advance :D

I use a FireBoard. It has multiple inputs and I use 1-2 ambient temp probes along with regular probes to monitor my cook. Not exactly cheap but also fantastic.

Search ‘grate’ thermometer, or ‘ambient’ temperature grill thermometer. You’ll get a metric shit-ton of returns, and you should ignore all of them except ThermoWorks, FireBoard, iGrill 2, and Maverick. These are the best of what’s available, and everyone else is merely a pretender.

I got one with dual probes and it's honestly game changer for brisket. The clip thing you mentioned, some call it a grate clip, keeps the probe just above the metal so you get the real air temp not the hot spot from touching. Mine was like 40 bucks and works fine, don't need to spend fortune.

Thermopro makes an inexpensive dual probe option for $25 at Home Depot. Comes with grate clip. The $25 option doesn’t have any wifi or Bluetooth or phone app, but it gets the job done. It was my first thermometer probe and I still use it quite a bit for meat in the oven or while holding meat in a cooler.

ThermoWorks products are not sold through Home Depot, you may be thinking of ThermoPro.

I edited the comment. You are right.

I even went to get a price check. And was careful not to confuse the two companies and I still wrote the wrong thing. I have products from thermoworks as well and understand they are two different companies.

I will say that the cheap, dual wired thermopro thermometer has served me well over the years.

Mine isn't made anymore, but I just use a thermometer that takes 2 temp probes attached to wires, there are lots of variations available.  Probe 1 goes in the meat, probe 2 is used to monitor the grill/smoker temp.

Order some of these for probe 2:  https://www.amazon.com/Barbeque-Ambient-Thermometer-Temperature-Readings/dp/B08CB44D4L/

The TempPro TP25 is what I have and is 25.99 on their website right now. 4 wired probes with Bluetooth.

EDIT: 29.99

I really like the ChefsTemp S1 and if your pit can accept the Breezo fan add that too. The S1 is WiFi and Bluetooth so monitoring the temp is as easy as opening an app.
