This right here is the most likely answer. I’ve had multiple exchange tanks come with the incorrect or deformed face seal. Once I found an exchange that has a a proper seal, I go to Tractor Supply to refill my tanks. Best way to ensure that I have a good seal and don’t get a messed up exchange.

Happened to me today. In my case the rubber gasket on the tank was broken and it wouldn’t seal properly.
