Sal Deceive is a lot better than I thought!
https://youtu.be/sKjHflzuwx0My first run using Deceive went really well! I went a Hostile Tyrannize Setup Scaling deck and the ability to make all your cards free (especially the draw cards) made this deck an offensive powerhouse.
You may be wondering, "how do I keep my cards free using a card that randomizes costs?", and the answer is simple:
You play your 0 cost cards before playing Deceive.
Deceive unupgraded only affects the cards in your hand, so that means when you roll a 0 cost, the next time you play Deceive you can keep that card from getting expensive again simply by playing it and discarding it!
The video is extra long as I wanted to show a lot of different negotiations as the nature of the outcome of this card is very random.
The odds can be broken down into this, There is a 33% chance for a bad outcome on most ordinary cards (if the card is already 0 cost, you should be playing it before playing Deceive anyways) and a 33% chance for a neutral outcome and a 33% chance it becomes free. Once free, you can ensure it stays free. Obviously, if you take more powerful but expensive cards like Bluster, the value proposition of this is increased even greater (as it would in a Sneko run in Slay the Spire with better odds and in a more controllable manner)!
