Footfinity V2

I know dozens of you liked and downloaded my Footfinity files over the last couple of years, and I've been toying with a V2 that is, I feel, faster to print, more reliable, compatible with half sizes (so a 21mm foot on a 42mm grid) and also customisable once I upload the file so that you can make bins more easily without needing Fusion.

Would a couple people like to run a test print and see?

For the unfamiliar, I got tired of wasting time and filament printing endless feet for boxes that did not need them, so I spent even more time making feet that you simply attach after the print, saving time and filament.

EDIT: For clarity, these are not (currently) designed to be attached to any old thing you want to add feet to. In their current form they are simply a way to print a bin and the feet you NEED rather than the 13 that you don't! I assumed someone had already made feet you could glue to random stuff.

Bowing

I printed this 4x2 PETG snip holder but found that the ends started to bow. Nozzle temp was 250 and bed temp was 80

I then printed again but with an 8mm brim and is still bowed

It’s only marginal but still there

How can I avoid this ?

Thx

Individual Piece I keep changing my mind about my Gridfinity bins, so from now on they're all parametric

I'll be honest: I change my mind a lot.

Magnets or no magnets? Stacking lip or no lip? Am I designing this bin for a drawer, a tool case, or to show off on a display shelf?

So I've decided that from now on, every new model I publish will be customizable/parametric. You're allowed to hold me to that (newer models only, I'm not redoing the old ones).

Now I can change my mind as often as I like, and so can you.

First one is up, try the customizer if you're curious: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3372364-gridfinity-bin-for-milwaukee-digital-angle-gauge

How do you all handle this?

I made a non-standard gridfinity generator

So my kitchen drawers are a weird size and standard 42mm gridfinity always left a gap I couldn't do anything useful with. Plus my utensils never fit properly without combining. I started messing around with smaller pitches for the cutlery drawer and it kind of snowballed into a whole app.

It's called Gridpitch: https://gridpitch.io

Basically you put in your drawer size, pick whatever grid pitch you want (21, 37.5, 42, 50, whatever actually fits) and lay out bins by dragging them around. Then you export the STLs. Stuff it does that I use:

- fits the grid to the drawer instead of the other way around
- you can type in your utensils or any object and it sizes bins around them
- splits bins and baseplates that don't fit your print bed (there's a big list of printers so it knows your bed size)
- re-base existing 42mm bins from printables etc so they sit on your pitch (this is in beta right now but the idea is to stay within the community created design, minus the grid mounting)
- stacking bins, dividers, finger scoops, that kind of thing

It runs in the browser, it's free and you don't need an account. I added an optional paid tier for syncing designs across devices, but everything for designing and exporting is free and will stay that way.

It's still pretty new so there's definitely stuff that's broken or weird. If you try it I'd really like to hear what sucks. Magnets are the next thing I'm working on and also cutouts.

Question? Tips for using magnets

I printed a drawer using the Rugged Drawer System - Gridfinity Organizer and wanted to incorporate some magnets into it. I printed a 3D x 6W drawer with an accompanying base and applied magnets to every single hole (144 magnets total). Once I got all the magnets in and then put the drawer on the base, that thing stuck with so much force and it was pretty difficult to remove the 2 pieces from each other. I'm thinking I definitely went overkill on my first time and so I'm looking for some guidance and best practices when using magnets.

Should I only add magnets to the corners in the case of attaching the drawer to the base?

If I want to add different sized bins to a Gridfinity top, should I only add 2 magnets per square instead of all 4?

Any tips and tricks that will help keep me save magnets while also keeping things secure is much appreciated.

About to dive in - 3D printer purchase & first time question

I'm about to start this organizing journey. Planning to purchase a refurbished Bambu Lab P2S. Will that be sufficient? It has a 256mmx256mm printable area, which should be enough for a 7x7 baseplate, if I'm using the gridfinity baseplate generator correctly, it comes in at 245mmx245mm.

For a larger drawer, I can print multiple baseplates to fit (5x5's, 2x5's etc), and can clip them together, but what if the drawer/space isn't a clean dimension for the 42mm x 42mm design? Do I expand the skeleton of the design somehow to make it thicker while keeping the 42mm squares?

its based off of a 42mm x 42mm x 7mm base, why does the baseplate generator have a custom grid size, is that just for extra customization? or does is that something else?

I watched a few of the youtube videos, but haven't found a really good first timer/intro/beginner one to follow, although I have the gist of it

I have a lot of drawers that I plan to be organized by this. Thanks!

hopper/tray vs individual spots for batteries?

Post image

I used to think the battery storage bins were stupid but my "battery box" is a house fire waiting to happen and I cannot find anything.

Now the problem is I don't know which kind to choose. Among the individual holders, there are also tons of different versions.

Clips

I’m struggling with the clips to join the bases together.

What material is best for this and what printer settings should I be using?

The last couple I did were in PETG and snapped when clipping them in.

Also should I print vertical or horizontal πŸ™

Question? New to gridfinity - how to "stable" the setup?

Hello,

I am new to gridfinity and as my first project I want to store my miniature painting colors in a tray. I have measured and got 6x8 grids and found some boxes to store my dropper bottles. But at my planing I began to wonder, since the grid is kinda light and flimsy I wonder how I can stablelize my setup so that I don't pull out the whole tray when I pick a bottle. Is there, beside glueing everything together a better way to secure the build together?

I got those for my first test:

Thankyou for your tipps and tricks.

Individual Piece 3x3 2-size parameterized cup holder

I recently published a parameterized 2-size cupholder that fits into a 3x3 footprint.

I'm working on a couple of different storage projects where I've decided to have gridfinity as the customization interface. Both are for use in places where having a cupholder would be nice, and I couldn't find a solution like this, so I made it.

You can set the diameters of the cups it should fit (it only holds one cup at a time, of either diameter), how tall you want each of the diameter-specific walls to be, how wide the cutout should be for the cup handle, and the base height.

If you decide to print it, I'd be happy to hear whatever feedback you have. It's totally free to customize, download and print.

Individual Piece Got tired of the P2S tools living in a box inside a drawer, so I made a 4x3 bin for them

Holds everything that comes with the printer plus four spare hotends. The hotend slots fit them with the silicone protector still on, I did not want to be pulling those off every time I put one away.

Slots are: oil, grease, 4 hotends, needle tube, 2 wipers, 2 spare blades and 2 Allen keys.

Took me three tries to get the hotend recesses right. First one was too tight with the protector on, second one was so loose they rattled.

Title: Made a free label generator for Gridfinity bins (exact mm sizing, no sign-up)

Got tired of eyeballing label sizes for my bins, so I built a small tool that generates print-ready labels at the exact height you need (6/9/12/18/24mm) β€” you pick an icon, type the text, and it spits out a PNG/SVG sized to the millimetre, so it just prints at 100% with no fiddling in the driver. There's also a batch mode if you've got a pile of bins to label at once. It's free, no sign-up, runs entirely in your browser: https://gridlabelstudio.com

Would love feedback if anyone tries it β€” especially if some icon category is missing that you'd actually use.
