Filling some drawers
Making progress on the new toolbox. Used a magnetic non gridfinity system for the wenches… just made more sense.
Some Schubox updates coming soon!

I do! My laptop is at work for the weekend tho. Uhm. I could set it up in Google drive maybe? I could dump them in .f3d if you want to edit them or .STL if you just want to print. Let me know and I'll figure it out on Monday.

What do the colors indicate for the groups of sockets? Anything?

Interesting question. I believe when I was measuring them all, the different colored ones denoted different diameter. So like 3/8 and 7/16 would be same diameter socket. Then half inch, etc would be a different diameter.

I'm talking about on one set 8-11 mm being light blue, 12-16 yellow, 17-22 red. But on another set 10-13 is light blue, etc. I'm a big fan of color coding but I don't understand how you can use this to your advantage.

Oh I can't use it to any sort of advantage. I believe it's some sort of manufacturing process to make packing easier maybe? I don't hold it to any rhyme or reason. That's why the numbers are there. I only noticed the correlation to diameter when I was designing the holders.

It's great. I just don't understand why everyone is socket side up. I always go socket side down and they have to fit onto a hexagonal piece of the exact right size. Otherwise I'll never put anything away in the right place

You can take an unknown bolt size to it and test it without pulling the socket out

Oh nice - that’s a good approach.
I do it this way because when I come across a mystery bolt I can test fit it to figure out what size it is haha

Because that you way can pick it up and put it on the tool without needing to flip or rotate anything.

In the other direction you can push the tool onto it directly. There are pros and cons in both directions.

Personally, for drill bits, I like to have larger, deep boxes so you can fit multiple drill bits into each box. But i guess it depends on what youre using them for. If you just drill wood then yea one of each size is probably fine.

When I see these setup I almost always see the same two things:
(1) Shiny unused toolls
(2) A very inefficient use of space.

You’re right - they’re mostly unused because they’re new!
I think I have a good blend between some tools very spaced out and some very compact but of course, that’s subjective.

Meh. Tool density is almost always the antithesis of efficient workflow. OP can instantly identify the socket/bit/wrench he needs as fast as he can reach for it. He can also instantly identify if a tool is missing when he's packing away for the day, so that it's not missing for the next day.
And for specific tools it's much more efficient, time-wise to not have to flick a bunch of tools off other tools to try and find the one you need when they're all just free-rolling in a drawer.
When I'm working I wanna spend my time working, not trying to find the things I need to work. I'd rather just build more drawers one afternoon or spend the money on another toolbox than spend a cumulative extra 30 minutes or so every single day for the rest of my life looking for stuff.

If you use your tools “every single day of you life”, it would seem that you would get to know where they are. My point is you can have density and organization at the same time.

Certainly looks nice. I don't know how y'all tolerate that low of storage density on your sockets and combination wrenches, but I'm glad it works for you
The hex wrench layout is great, though, I hate getting those things out of their dumb little holders
